Question - switch from GT to Cobra tail lenses

I switched to cobra (84 svo) lenses and also used 84 housings from my 93 cheese grater GT lenses. The cobra/84 lenses are much thinner than the GT lenses. In fact they are about 3/8" thinner. The cobra/84 lenses sit very much recessed under the hatch lid. The 84 housing and 93 housing are the same thickness and are practically identical. Has anyone else experienced this? I imagine this is how it is supposed to look since it would seem near impossible to adjust. They just looked very odd to me at first.

Thanks Mansonozz, I kind of figured that's how they were supposed to be. Also, anyone noticed that the retaining nuts and studs are different threads between the 80s and 90s. So has anyone had any luck with the one size fits all retaining nuts from 50resto.com? Also, anyone had luck getting new gaskets that sit between the housing and the body? (foam type material)

I put '86 GT taillights in my 90 GT convertible. To keep them from leaking water I used a bead of silicone sealent on the stock foam gaskets. That was 3 years ago. Still water free.
