I am about to pick up a set of ported gt40 heads for 150 dollars. Only problem is there is damage in the combustion chamber. So I was wondering if these heads are even worth the coin. And how much it would cost to get them redone. And since I'd be doing it should I upgrade the valves and springs?

I wouldn't bother. You can find iron GT40's in decent shape for $200-250. Check on http://car-part.com for 90's Explorer heads. You'll find them in the standard GT40 and GT40P varieties.
