radiator

i m putting my car back together after finally getting the new radiator core support welded in and cmae into some trouble when placing the radiator. i went to the local junk yard to a get a radiator and they gave me one out of a 84 grand marguise. :sp?: when i put the shroud on the radiator it sits high and the bottom of the fan is rubbing pretty good. i bought this car of a friend that crashed it and before he crashed it he mentioned that the motor mounts were rotten and one was broke and was thinking maybe that might be making the motor sit lower and that is causing the rubbing. if anyone can help me out it would be greatly appreciated thanks.

A common symptom of failed motor mounts is that the engine 'sags' lower - a common sign of this is the fan hitting the bottom of the shroud. However, given that the car's been wrecked in the front, there's all sorts of possibilities for misalignment. Are you sure the radiator and shroud from the Marquis are the same size/configuration as for the Mustang?

the radiator core support fell into place and we made measurement to make sure it was aligned so dont believe it was that. i wasn't all to sure bout the radiator i kind of jsut took his word for it when he said that yes it would work. but if the fan is known to start rubbing the shroud when the motor mounts go bad that the problem. i just didn't think that bad motor mounts would cause the motor to sit so much lower? i will go pick some new ones up tonight and see if that fixes the problem. thanks
