All the driveshafts turn back and forth, that is the play on the ring gear and pinion. There is a little movement inside the tail housing bushing but not that much and that play won’t cause the rattling throug the shifter as far as I know.Is your driveshaft able to twist either direction a little or does it not budge at all? I’m having trouble finding out if that’s normal or not.
I know it’s not the tail shaft bushing because it’s brand new so that’s what made me think my old driveshaft yolk teeth are worn.

Been ages since I bought one but the jegs / summit used to use the hybrid u joints vs all 1330 like the old frpp shafts.... There all made by neapco these days so you can generally find one cheaper if you shop around for a 45.5 shaft with 1330 Joints and yoke of your choice if you have a local shop.All this talk of aluminum driveshafts….. has anyone ever used the ones offered by JEGS or Summit? What’s the quality difference between them and Ford Racing?
Rebuild the old one, then have it balanced, without rerouting the e brake system for.more clearance all most every fox body will have that issue with the 3.5" shaft. I think it was 93 when they changed the routing design of it a bit.Got the driveshaft in last night, fixed the rattles. After the first drive I noticed the driveshaft got some scoring on it from the e brake cables, my old DS had this as well. Is this something to be concerned about or is it harmless?
As you can see in the pictures my old driveshaft had been in the car for who knows how long and the scoring never got any worse than minor surface scraping so I think it’ll be fine but let me know.
Also does anyone know how to fix this problem?
So I took a look at it today. For whatever reason my car does not have that e brake cable bracket. Maybe when they did the 5 lug disc brake swap they didn’t put it. Regardless it looks like the e brake cables are not rubbing.My 93 scrapes the FMS aluminum DS but the car has coil overs and is fairly low. You have to really compress the suspension to get it to scrape.
Check and see if the bracket that the rear ebrake cables snap into isn’t bent up or has pulled the spot welds.

The car has H&R sport springs. This is how it sits right now. About a two finger gap all the way around.Put a shorter trans mount in, it will move the trans side of you driveshaft further from the floor.
How much have you lowered the rear?
BilsteinsSo is it just me or does it look like there has been a piece of sheet metal added over where the DS is hitting? Almost like a DS blew up and they patched the floor.
I had H&R Super Sports on my Coupe with 245/40R17’s on all four corners and never bottomed out there. What shocks are on the car?
I had a pinion angle issue and swapped the mount called for on a Fox (Prothane 6-1604) for a 6-1608 mount. It is about an inch shorter. If I remember right I had to modify where it mounts to the trans, but it lowered the rear of my trans quite a bit - I actually had to shim it up to get the angle within range.Are there any short poly trans mounts out there?
