I have an e cam

so trust me on this one.

leave your car camless until you are stalled and geared

what happens when you add a cam to stock heads? you dont gain power hardly at all.

what do full bolton cars dybo at....245 hp with 295-300 torque

what did my car make with a fresh shortblock with e cam and full boltons

246/290 perectly tuned. the only difference is my car pulls to 6200 and makes peak power up top nice and broad.

your car will be hella slow in first gear until about 3200. this will kill your take off and the fun of the car in town.

what you need is long tube headers and then a cobra intake. a MUCH better idea than an ecam would be to add gt40P heads.

they can be had cheap and with a stock cam will make amazing torque and really help your auto move. you could honestly do p heads for the same price you would pay for all teh proper parts to run the e cam.

ANy cam in yoru car is not a good idea right now.

thanks, and i will be getting the l/t with the 4.10s and cobra intake so it should have pretty decent low end torque. i'll just wait on the cam

E-Cam

I run an e-cam. With combo of other things, I have no driveability problems and plenty of power (i could always have more of course ).

I ran an E cam in my coupe back in '95.

Pros

Its free
If you do it yourself, then gaskets arent that much.
It will sound at idle somewhat mean
It will more then likely help very little on top end

Cons

It will more then likely hurt your lowend
Total power increase will be very minimal if any at all.
Nothing like saying I'm fast (with the lope/idle of a cam) and being hardly if any faster.
The money you spend on gaskets and a chip and if you pay someone to do it you could buy other parts that will actually help you go faster.

Personally I wouldn't do it. It was nice of your friend to offer you the cam tho. I would sell the cam, save the money you would have spent on gaskets, install and a chip and try to get enough for a set of heads, then get a better cam. The E-Cam I ran was a gift as well but it wouldn't be my first choice of a cam even back then. I am not saying it is a bad cam but you need to at least have everything working together to get the benefit from it. You should get a stall converter as well before installing a cam too (of course that will depend on the cam you will be running as well)
