Rim ideas.. whatcha think??

thanks guys for the suggestions and nice comments! im gunna stick with the ponys just freshen them up with some new paint and DR's in the rear! instead of money spent on the rims ill put it into the new interior and some dark tint :nice:

ok pony's and DR's FTW..

what size do i get tho?? 275-50- R16's??

From experience, I would say go with the 255-50-16's. I had those on ponies on my notch, and occasionally (but quite rarely), they would rub going over a bad bump while cornering. Remember, the sectional width on something like a drag radial is quite a bit bigger than on a street tire. The 255 series will look plenty aggressive, trust me :nice:

And as for whether or not to keep the ponies, it's your choice, but I'd clean them up/repaint them and keep them. They look really good on your car, and I personally regret changing to 5-lug from ponies. Should have just put in hardened wheel studs, and spent the rest of the money on other mods.

I love how AliateX's car looks like with the pony's and the fatty radials he has on there. I think yours would look good that way as well. Or you could find some 4 lug ROH's

I love you too

I am doing the same thing, I am getting an extra set of ponies to play with, with et streets for the track/nice days when I feel like sprayin. I am going to polish the lip, the guy already painted them charcoal then when I put them on my rear, if I like it, I'll do my street set as well.

haha well that just goes to show, mine arnt even down to the wearline yet and Ive had them since may!
That's pretty impressive. My buddy had 275 et streets on welds on a supercharged car probably making about the same power as yours. He did maybe 3 decent burnouts and they were gone in less than 3k miles. Although he did a lot of 1-2 powershifts on the street which probably took a lot more off than you would think, leaving 50ft of rubber every time. Do you have any recent close-up pics of the tires? His started kinda peeling on the tread surface, it was odd. We though maybe he got a bad set.

I love your car, bro. I think the ponies look great on it, but if youre looking for a change, I'd say leave the ponies on it, polish the lip and charcoal/black out the centre. Similar to...uhh....forget the name, the other canadian up here from Winnipeg with the Red Turbo GT?...anyways...looks slick!
Just saw who you're talking about. 88_GT_5oh I think.

Those are Mickey Thompsons, and they're bad ass. (edit) If I'm not mistaken, those are 255/50's.

thanks! that tire is just the look im going for - once the car is lowered it should look pretty mean from the rear??

I had 275 nittos on different rims, these 255 MT's hook 100x better than the nittos ever did. Tread life is fine as long as you dont do tons of burnouts

where did you get your tires from? thanks for the info as well!!!! :nice:

good cause ill prolly keep the DR's on there all the time as the car isnt driven much anyways

sweet! i was gunna do the same thing but i think im just going to keep the stock pony look with these rims, re-paint em silver and stick the DR's on the rear. Maybe ill expirment with the 2 spare rims i have...

aliatex how do your dr's do in the rain?

fine, just gotta pay attention, it will skate around sometimes, nothing serious though. Hell I drove in the snow with them the other day.

I dunno, I learned how to make them last after my nittos, keeping the right tire pressure helps a lot with even wear. Ill see if I can get some pictures.
