shaft for oil sender

i've had probs with my oil pressure in my 89 5.0lx. So i replaced took the shaft and sending unit off. then i noticed in the chilton 2-47 that it says 15 degrees +/- 5degrees to the front. then it also says sender must be in approx vertical position. WTF ... i noticed my shaft was tilted to the rear and not the front like it says. is it suppose to be tilted to the front or straight up????
 
i think its not suppose to be tilted, but gets tilted when you tighten it. i just got back from reinstalling the shaft and sender unit. i tightened the shaft first, then put the sender on, but when i tightened it it moved back. so i just readjusted the shaft. this actually solved my forever investigating idle surges & pressure lose. also helped that i put thicker oil cause i also think my bearings are going out.
