should i be disapointed with the hp output of my motor

Someone on this forum just made a point that his less modified motor made the same hp as mine and i was wondering if my motor should make more hp then it does.

The motor is a DSS 306 w/edelbrock heads, e-cam, rpm 2 intake, 65mm throttle body, 73mm mass air, msd 6al, electric fan, shorty headers, and full 2 1/2in exhaust. The car is an auto with a non lockup converter so i know that takes alot more power at the wheels then a stick does. When i went to the dyno it put out 296hp and 310tq with a super rich air fuel ratio of 11.5 to 1.

If you can get 13.0-13.4 A/F ratio that would be great.

I think it was in muscle mustangs that i read some guys 2 page essay on how yo ucan run 10's with 430Hp and maximum traction. so none if this will surprise me.

I was talking about a/f ratio.

you have a good a/f ratio.....for a FI'ed car....lean it out, run 11's, sell it to me for 100 bucks

I think those numbers a pretty good with an AOD. Just imagine what it would make with a 5 speed and a tune.

i lost 3 mph from changing from a lockup converter to a non-lockup converter so I know im losing at least 20/30hp over a stick

I dont know about that. Stock against stock with the 5.0s the autos were 20+ hp behind due to HP loss though the tranny

where do you come up with that?? ive seen stock 87-93 aod cars dyno in the mid 180's vs low 190's for 5 spd cars.
