SLP Catted X pipe OR Magnaflow Catted X pipe?

I guess different states have different penalties for removing the cats but in Maryland you get an inspection ticket. I actually went through emissions testing last year with no cats and all the did was plug into my computer and check for bad codes and I passed!

There is a difference in the sound and performance when you run no cats.... But there are some quality cat systems out there!!

sorry man i dont have any sound clips, but i can say im completely happy with the combo. it is however very different then the tipical mustang sound. i have regular magnaflows btw. it is more of a racey sound like a high performance race car rather then a muscle car. it is fairly quiet when not getting on it hard. i picked quiet on purpose so i get no cop trouble.

when i floor it it opens up and sounds pretty bad ass, again a different sound then every other stang. :nice:

Have you ran it with the cats off? Hows it sound?? I'm think I'm asking for too much--I love the throaty sound of chambered mufflers--yet CANNOT stand drone....don't know what combo to get....

I have the SLP Short O/R X-pipe, and I love it. If i didn't get this pipe I would have got a Bassani, but I needed something short to fit my SLP LTs. The quality is great and I love the fact that I could always unclamp, slide cats in, and reclamp :D

I would run o/r but what happens if you get pulled over and they see that you have no cats? What's the penalty? I've heard a huge fine, I've also heard just a fix-it ticket.

most every state has a huge fine for tampering with emisions equipment. Can they prove you did it? possible if you bought the car new. If you purchased the car used you would proably get a fix it ticket.

I have never seen anyone get the ticket though. I have been pulled over with my 89 chevy truck for the exhaust being too loud. I had no cats. headers, duals, 40 series flows. cop did not look for cats. He had no decible meter. I told him the mufflers were 50 state legal and I would see him in court if he wrote the ticket. he let me go.

I have never had a cop try to look under my car in anyway.

Good info hognutz, I'm glad everyone has had encounters with the cops where they didn't check under the car. Eases my nerves, plus I bought the car used so I'd swing that as well. Now I gotta find some dinero for the SLP :p
