Well it was bound to happen sooner or later....I caught a curb with my back right tire on my home this evening. TWO MONTH OLD 'Black Chrome' 17X10.5 rims with 315/35 tires. It left a scuff or something on the rim...didn't touch the rubber. Figures. Can this be buffed out or polished or anything? I attached some pics but it is dark outside. I think you can still see the scuff pretty good though. What do you think? Am I screwed?
Son of a gun...any advice on this?

That sucks dude. You can 1. Leave it be and ignore it 2. have fixed at a wheel shop( which cost some jack ) or 3. just buy a new wheel cuz it will probably be cheaper than having fixed.

Depends, look at the wheel see where the deepest rash is, now imagine if the some 2-3 inches of the wheel will be that depth, would it make a difference? If so, you probably should leave it alone. If you think it would blend in well, start sanding. A good tutorial exists on this site, on bullittarchive and also on autopia.org

I am not sure I understand what you are saying...I tried to load it from my pics but it says the file is too big....hell the maximum it says the file can be is like 78.1kb.....my pics are around 900kb at 5mp and 450 at 1.8mp (as low as it will go) so how do I get those pics on here? I see everyone else with lots of hi-definition looking pics on here. How are they doing that? I'm gonna go drink a beer. My day just went downhill.............Mmmmmmmm beer.

Correct me if I'm wrong...
I've read that people have fixed this on SATIN finish wheels by sanding with like 400 then 600 then 1200. Butttt since it's chrome, I don't think that would work. Maybe you could sand it smooth and buy some of that Duplicolor chrome plate stuff or some touch up paint. It wouldn't be perfect, but it would be much less noticable. By the way, verrry nice tires

Well.....
I looked at it today in the daylight....It doesn't look near as bad. With the 'black chrome' I guess it shows more at night especially with the flash from the camera. The wheels look almost like just plain chrome in the day and darker at night. It is wierd though it almost looks like something rubbed off on the wheel from the curb and whatever that is is a lighter color than the wheel at night but blends in much better during the day. It still bugs the hell out of me though....I'm anal about my car. It is pretty much my wife, my kids and my dog(I have none of those). I guess I should get used to it or get ready for things like that to happen. I plan on beating the $hit out of it next year once I finish stiffening the chassis and suspension. THe chassis stiffness or lack there of sucks on this car with the convertible. When I put the spring, shocks, swaybars, U/L control arms and tires on it the flexxing went through the roof. I can watch it move sometimes. I'm getting ready to put her up on jacks for a month or so to weld a bunch stiffening stuff underneath and replace the Kmember/Aarms, change the rearend and clutch/flywheel, replace the front seats, get rid of the back and add a roll bar. SANTA IS COMING BIG TIME FOR CHRISTMAS THIS YEAR!!!
I tell you what...just with the suspension upgrades I have so far and the fatter tires, the grip is incredible. I went around a clover leaf close to me the other day about 5-6 times and I had to quit because my left arm was worn out from pushing myself back into the seat away from the door. It was hilarious. Nice to have the problem I guess. Thanks for the advice and the compliment on the wheels. They are pretty cool. you can get them off Ebay from AFS if you were wondering...just like $1500 I think mounted and balanced I figure when these tires wear out I might try the BFG KD's but I am pretty impressed with these for the price (1/2 the price roughly). Anyway gotta go, laterguys.
