I have had about a 1/3 of a tank of gas in there for 2 years. It was 93 octane and I never stabilized it because I didn't thing the car would sit for that long.

Do you guys think I can get away with just throwing some fuel injection cleaner, dry gas and mabey some octane boost in the tank with 5 fresh gallons of 93 octane? Or do I have to drain the old gas?

From my experience, you can get away with diluting the current gas with fresh gas and injector cleaner, but it's best to drain the old stuff if you can. The bigger issue might be varnish on the injectors. If the latter isn't too bad (the car runs alright), it should improve as you get some miles on it.

MHO.
Good luck.

I have tried to syphon the gas previously with a cheap syphon pump from autozone but there seems to be some kind of anti-syphon devise inside of the filler tube. Also, I can't drop the gas tank here at my apartment building.
That's why I am asking if I can just dilute the old gas.

Any help would be great.

I suppose you could disconnect the fuel filter and place an extension hose from there into a big container and let the pump run to remove the old gas.

I'd still try diluting and see what happens. You just need to burn through that tank of the anyhow.

Wow it sat at an apartment complex for 2 years and they never towed it? At my old place they where a pain in the ass about that constatly checking everyones plates and as soon as your registration was up they had a sticker threatening to tow it. But anyway you should be able to get away with diluting it. My v6 stang say for a year and a half without starting and we didnt even dilute it, at start up, it smoked for a bit though, and well we let it idle for about 30 minutes then drove str8 to a gas station and filled it with 93. it was good to go after that:nice:

Ok so I just started it. I added 4 gal of fresh 93 octane, some fuel injection cleaner, and some dry gas. I also just changed the oil and oil filter and put in a new battery............

The Car is purrrring!!!!:nice: :nice: :nice:

No idle issues, no leaks, no, funny sounds or smells. The engine is very dirty, but i will clean it soon.

I havn't drivin it yet because I wanted to clean the rotors with some brake cleaner first, so we'll see how that goes.

I just thought you guys might be interested.

I figured it would be alright. I have started a vehicle with 5 year old gas in it before.

Good luck.

Congrats on the fresh start!

I was dying to make the comment about 2 years in an apartment building, but somebody beat me to it....damn you GTA

I would still go over that car with a fine toothed comb, just to make sure you won't get any surprises down the road

:jester: hehehe I dont know I just found that amazing, 2 years in an apartment building parking lot. Heck your luck the kids didnt start jumping on it or hit it with crap and let the air out of the tires or steal your center caps and stuff. I know i used to when I was at a kid living in an apartment complex, there was nothing better to do ,:p lol.
