Episode III, "Rebellion Without A Cause"

Our Noble Allies have not been resting on their laurels. From a garage hidden deep in Little Storpington on the Slough comes Darth Speedster's worst nightmare ... and our firends are just warming up.

Our friends from Across the Pond go Darth hunting ... and woe betide him if they find him!

 

[02Pete]

Our hapless friends from The Other Party are still trying to help out Big Don, Silver and DC -- but first they're gonna need to put more Gerbils in the treadmill cage ...

 

[02Pete]

Our Boys are back in the hunt, Big Don and Sliver chasing a Pantera with a very imaginative paint scheme -- must be a member of the Flying Circus.

Tally Ho! Our Allies have spotted something, and the hunt is on.

The Other Party is STILL trying. Some people just don't know when to quit!

Sector control has just given Squadron Leader ffinch vectors for an unsuspecting Civic si which is about to become toast...

 

[02Pete]

Darth's team never even saw it coming! Four cylinders (and less than 2 liters) worth of Ford-powered Lotus make quick work of a six-cylinder Porsche.

And our Allies are just starting to roll out one surprise ...

... after another. Wouldn't want to be in the Beeron's shoes now.

And if you think this one's good, wait'll you see...

 

[02Pete]

... what Dread has been keeping under wraps at Our Boys' secret desert test facility. Darth and the Beeron, still reeling from the onset of Our Noble Allies, never even see him coming when he appears on the scene with ... the ULTIMATE MACHINE! No joking this time, a double throw down, no bull, jaw-dropping Ford GT-40, not some replicar but the Real Thing, coming down the straight at warp speed with a demented scream that would wake the dead. Darth and the Beeron have less hope than a slushie in the Mojave, it's all over ...

Man, oh man ... Don't mess with Dread, boys, he been there and done gone, leaving the Beeron's crew in the dust -- literally. One for our side!

 

[02Pete]

With Darth and the Beeron routed, the Other Party still looking for rubber bands, and our Noble Allies headed back to to their pubs in Blighty, Our Boys can get back to their normal lives. We'll leave this story back where it started, with Big Don, a modest fella who's wearing civvies once again. Our adversaries have learned the hard way ... DON'T MESS WITH THE BEST!

Developing by Kodak via CVS -- try getting a PhotoCD with your 35mm prints, the poor man's version of an electronic camera. Cars all owned, maintained and driven by members of the VSCCA. And the event -- the Labor Day weekend races at Lime Rock. (If you don't know what that is, check out www.limerock.com for some info.) If you like Mustangs and Fords, seeing Shelby GT-350s or a Ford GT-40 at speed on a road course is a real treat. Those Ford-engined Lotus Sevens and Elevens are fun to look at, too.

Yeah, OK, it was juvenile. After the last couple of weeks, though, I thought maybe you guys could use something light-hearted to lift the mood a little. I know that I could -- I'm from New York. Hope you got at least one or two laughs out of it. And if you didn't, just fuggeddaboudit.

Seriously pete, that was one of the most fun things that has ever happened to me on a message forum, thanks for the effort you put into it, because I know that making captions for all of those pictures couldn't be easy!

Glad you liked it. Don't count on stuff like that all the time; I don't have an endless supply of car photos (I tend to take other stuff instead). I had fun with it though. And I bet I can give you one last smile, with -- umm -- yeah, I think this photo of a '59 Austin-Healey Sprite will do it. If you want to time one of these from 0 to 60, you use an hourglass to do it...
