so anyways i got in touch with an old friend the other day and he has a 95 camaro lt1, 6 speed

the kid thinks hes all badass and king of the hill, and i plan on showing him what for.

ive got the stuff in my sig and soon to be a trick flow track heat upper and lower intake manifold and 75 MM throttle body with 1 inch spacer

also going to be doing a custom cold air at the same time i do the intake

im pretty sure i should be able to take him being that alot is in the driver and he aint to hot and im better than most the people i know

opinions? or do you think im going to need a little more?

I owned one. Automatic. It was a hit or miss cuz I drove an SS that was as slow as my 94 gt was stock.

That being said, a 305HP DOHC Cobra was a dead heat match for me but not a gt or 5.0 cobra. I blew their doors off. You are going to need gears for sure and that's if he doesn't do anything to his. I put headers, CAI and ran a 13.5 in mine. A 6 speed will be even faster. On the Hwy he will kill you with the gearing he has.

In other words, based on my auto that was running 14.0 stock with 3.23 gears, you are going to need to run faster than like..13.8 to stay with or beat him in my o.

you are talking about probably a grand or more of work for what ... just to maybe beat an old friend who has a camaro? stop and think about that for a minute.

no, it's not even close to being worth it. that grand is alot better spent towards heads, cam and intake from the corral classifieds.

in my opinion, you should NEVER do anything to your car just so you can beat some schmuk. there will always be another guy out there with a faster car. guaranteed.

save your money, decide what YOU want for your car, make a plan, and work towards that. at that point, it will most likely be a good bit faster than him, unless he does the same thing with his. like it or not, he has the advantage because of the extra cubes.

well its not just that, ive wanted to get a set of heads and a cam for a while now i just cant shell out 1300 on some nice afr's, then still needing RR's and a cam

ive been thinking about doing this for a while now, that i could get my gt40's ported localy for a few hundred, the cam and rockers for another few hundred and i should have a decent h/c/i at about half the cost, say 700 ish.

also maybe i could get a custom cam ground for this application to best utilize the parts listed

this is just the first time ive asked this question, or would it realy be that much better to spend twice as much for some AFR's?

also since im going to be doing the intake manifold i thought i would not be to much more difficult to do the heads and cam since i will be right there as well, im also interested in checking the overall condition of the engine as i am planning on getting a procharger d-1 this summer

after the procharger comes the r302 347 :P

Personally I would skip the aluminums totally and just put the money toward blower. Your heads flow well enough for that blower. ALOT better than my e7's did when I had my 302. I just don't see the aluminums as flowing enough better for a power adder for the MONEY but that is just me. Now.. if you can find some good aluminums used I would bc it will take 40+ pounds off yer front end to make up for the blwer. Not a bad idea and a little better flow. Now the weight difference is more for quarter milers.. you won't feel it on the seat of pants dyno.

Good luck either way! I would rather have your car than any camaro no matter how fast and the cobra is not a slouch!

+1, if youre gettin a blower anyway, get a customer cam made for the blower application and just get the blower. You can always go back and throw heads on later, but the GT40s flow way better than most of our E7's...

94 Cobra vs. 95 LT1 Camaro? Should be a drivers' race. Bring an LS1 into the mix, and you'll watch it run away from you rather quickly.

And I just wanted to add, don't turn this into a street racing thread or it gets the :lock:

i'd just save your money for the blower. the stock cobra engine is a stout little performer.

as for racing the guy, i think it will be close, but you'll definitely have a good chance. if you get the blower, you'll smoke him.

well i dont have the $$4500 for the blower i want lol, and id rather get the heads off and take a look at the pistons before i get the blower on the stock bottom end.

i just got back from the machine shop, the guy said about 5-600 for the port work and valve job and stuff, throw in another 120 for valves and w/e for a cam and it should be a nice gain for around 8-900 bucks instead of spending 1600 for afr's and a cam

95 LT1 is in the high 13s stock...My neice has one with a chip, 5spd and exh and it runs 13.5 13.2... youll need some sack to hang with him...
I have the mods in my sig and can just hang with my neice... good luck.. those Z28 come on hard mid track...

I had a 95 lt1 trans am with an M-6. Car was real quick but once it would heat up it was a dog. So do what you will with that info, imo you might take him from a dig t/a has about 320 tq. But like I said above, when it heats up it's a DOG.
