Hi to everyone this is my first post, i have been on the site for about 2 months now and absolutely love the site anyway...

I am planning on supercharging my mustang in the future with the vortec mongoose kit and was wondering what amount of boost you can run safely...

I have searched and found that the consesus is that it all depends on the tune but with a proper dyno tune what would you guys run on an otherwise stock engine, 6, 9, 11?

again this is a great site:SNSign:

well its all on the power output you want and a good one would be form 330-370 so a 8lbs of boost with a good tune would be about right for a stock block and the closer you get to 400HP the more your block will run on borrowed time and a forged internal set up is required but it always comes back to the tune

+1 to 03ghoststang's post. I don't have a s/c. But from what i have read i think 8 lbs of boost is about it. Anything more on a stock stang and i think you might start breaking stuff....not 100% sure. Hopefully someone else with more knowledge (than me) will chime in.... welcome sunburstgold

p.s. what kind of stang do you have?

Question, How much gas mileage could you expect from a supercharger on an 00GT with 8lbs boost?

Pretty much the same as stock if you keep your foot out of the oil pan. You start honking on it all of the time, you'll literally be able to watch the needle drop.

That'll probably affect your gas mileage then.

I've been running 8lbs of boost for about 3 years now with no leaking and zero problems (knock on wood). I wanted reliability and I have it.

My car might not be the fastest but it's fast enough for me and faster than alot of cars on the road. Get a good tune, keep up with the maintenance, and wait until the engine is in operating temp. before getting into boost and you'll be alright....

You will also have to start using Premium Unleaded if you aren't already.

Firemanz will you post your parts list i tried to use your link but couldnt accesss it for some reason. The power that you have is pretty much exactly what i want. Great lookin stang by the way.

Thanks man. Here's the list:

Vortech V2-SQ w/ 3.6" pulley
Steeda powerpipe
Walbro 255lph
42lb fuel injectors
Recalibrated 80mm MAF
Autologic chip dynotuned by Murillo Motorsports
Mac 70mm TB
Mac O/R H
Spintech side exhaust

The BIGGEST thing is getting a dynotune. I'm at 11.5 a/f ratio and that's considered conservative. I wanted reliability and I got it.....

This is great advice. Just have fun-keep it safe(your driving and the tune).
My blower is 2 years+. It's fast,it's fun,it sucks on gas and I would do it again. Good luck with yours.

yeah, I get ****ty gas mileage because of the gearing, it run's a little rich, and I drive "spiritedly" every so often, but I wouldn't change anything either...
