AOD to T-5
You don't need a computer if going from an AOD to a Manual.
You will need a flywheel, clutch, pilot & throwout bearing, clutch fork, cable. speedo gear, shifter boot that sets on top of the shifter (bolts to the floor), leather shifter boot (snaps into center console), shift knob, crossmember (or cut and reweld aod crossmember), t-5 exhaust bracket (bolts to tranny mount), clutch & brake pedal assembly, pedal quadrant (Steeda is the best), firewall adjuster for cable (if not using a stock adjustable quadrant with stock cable), and you may need a special couple inch wiring adapter for the backup light/ neutral safety switch (I don't remember if it's a tremmic thing).
Is the conversion hard, NO, but it will take some time (maybe more than a day, depending on tools and your knowledge of Fox Bodies).
Quick run down.
Disconnect battery.
Jack up car (all four corners need a stand high enough to angle & slide the AOD out).
Drop the H-Pipe.
Drain AOD, pull off kickdown linkage, speedo cable, neutral/backup plug, tranny coolant lines and shifter linkage.
Drop the driveline from the back, then slide out of tailshaft.
Take off starter, flexplate cover, then unbolt torque converter, drain torque converter.
Put jack under tranny, unbolt tranny mounts, crossmember, bellhousing bolts.
Pull tranny back and lower down.
Remove cooling lines and kickdown cable
----
Remove drivers seat
Takeout shifter (undo the wire cable from shifter and push under console)
**********************************
You may have to disconnect air bag (I did)
This is dangerous as f**k!!!!!
Keep you head, arm or whatever away from the front of the bag.
Air bags have been known to break and kill mechanics!
**********************************
Drop the steering column.
Remove brake pedal assembly
---
Swap the flexplate for a flywheel (use locktite)
Put in brake and clutch pedal assembly.
Put in quadrant.
Route cable
Bolt up steering column
Put in seat.
Bolt up clutch and bellhousing (pilot and throwout bearings, fork) also use alignment tool
You and your buddy will need to lift and align the inputshaft while putting in the tranny.
Bolt H-pipe bracket and crossmeber.
Do the neultral/backup wiring
Put on driveline.
Bolt up h-pipe and rest of exhaust.
Put on boots, upper part of shifter (if two piece) and knob
---
Hope this points you in the right direction. Good luck.
