t5 swap pedal question

alright I got the old pedal assembly out but cannot the new assembly in. do you guys usually pull the steering column totally out? Because I am about to just unhook the steering linkage and pull the steering column out. I was just wondering what you guys usually do.

Yes, steering column needs to be dropped. Since I had my dash out at the same time, I dropped mine in from the top where the gauges are. Was easier that way

I lowered my steering column, but didn't have to pull it out. I knew going in it was going to be a challenge. Took the most part of a day to get it done. Left the AOD in for a few more weeks and when I had some more time, did the rest

Same, I lowered mine, and it was a bitch to get back in, but if you take a deep breath and have some patience, it will go in no problem. Good luck!

As posted, it can be done with the column still attached and just dropped to the floor. But it's just 2 minutes of extra work to completely remove it and get it completely out of the way. I pulled mine out for the pedels. Just get the kids out of the garage and use some profanity and patience.

For my 90 I got the pedals from my 86, I also had to cut off the stud on the dash in the front because it was bigger than the hole in the pedals and made one less thing in the way.

You're literally one bolt away from taking the column out and it makes a ton more room. Do it.

When I did my swap it took just as much time to swap the pedals as it did to swap the transmission. It is a huge PITA. As previously stated, lots of patience and swearing are required.

When i did this it literally took an hour. Droped the column diddnt completely remove it and removed the seat. A little bit of wiggling and the things come right out.Its not the hardest job in the world once you analyze the situation.

once you have done it before its easier the second time. My first go took me roughly a whole afternoon to get the old pedals out and the new ones in. I can do it in about an hour now.

thanks for your guys suggestions I am going to pull the column out. I had plenty of fun trying to get the aod pedal out but did succeed. my cars almost done once I get this finished.
