Stole the drilled/slotted rotors off the white car as well as the powdercoated spindles. The white car got the brakes off this car though so all is good in this particular hood.

Sold the high ram to a local guy, knowing that it wouldn’t possibly clear the stock hood. And I’m absolutely going to try my hardest to keep the stock hood.

Picked up one of these. While the originals are admittedly garbage, these have been on some of the fastest coyote cars you’ll find and the LS world seems to be afraid of them.
I think the added plenum volume and the far better fit and finish will be a huge difference.

Think it’s going to work great with the cobra hood and not compromise looks like the plastic LS1 does or performance like a single plane/elbow would.

Pretty much fits with my current cold side rolled backwards so that’s cool for now too.

Started working on the chute mount also.

Don’t really want it over my head and I think it looks nice here. We will see if it’s comfortable to reach.

Oh, and I think I got a pretty good deal on a new MIG to replace my harbor freight flux machine. I need to weld in a lot of stuff out back and have never been happy with the beads (or lack of beads) the flux core gave me. Seemed you had to bury the end of the gun to get any kind of coverage from the flux.
Friend sold me this older Lincoln for $100 with a new gun, regulator and all that jazz.

lot of Win in that post. Thats awesome buddy. does the cobra already have a fuel system in it? Was it already set up for a Ls? Good score on the Lincoln, does it have the gas hookup?

This one uses gas. I’m pretty decent with a MIG, but never was with the fluxcore one I’ve got.

As far as a fuel system goes, this is all that’s going on out back presently.

All the fuel system, brake lines, wiring, etc is out of the car. I’ve got all the factory wiring to sort through, but otherwise starting from scratch.

Just trying to get through the work week at this point and make it to the weekend where I’m hoping to sneak off for a while and finally get something done.

In the last week or so I’ve gathered a pretty good stash.

Sold the Hp ECU and bought a Dominator.
Should have it next week.
Also picked up a Holley dash and a sweet cluster built to hold it. No need to mess with finding a 94-98 cluster and all that fun stuff.

I’ll have the ability to monitor and control a ton of stuff now, where I had become I/O limited quicker than expected with the HP.
I’ve got a second IAT sensor to put pre-intercooler, a transducer for coolant pressure and am planning to add some other cool stuff as well once i get myself organized.

Additionally, since the plan is to take a couple steps the more “streetable” direction and admittedly correct some poor decisions,
I snagged a 1300hp rated treadstone cooler yesterday. This helps me along with my goal of putting a “normal” radiator back on the car as well.

Motor plates also got dropped off this afternoon so hopefully Friday I’ll have a mock-up drivetrain in and can start getting ready to build the turbo kit.

Got a good deal on a pair of these Maven s300 mounts to mount the turbos out of the way. Narrowed it down to 2 locations, just a matter of practicality once I can see it in person.

Pinion flange swapped, driveshaft installed.

We have a complete driveline on our hands. Complete with oozing RTV!
Supplied converter bolts aren’t long enough, which is odd. So i’ll go after those next weekend.

Ended up trying out some black paint on the front end. Which I think I’ll stick with.
508DAD8B-9F95-408F-9994-DF4ECF3F8A35.webp

Need to wrap the downpipes and find a new home for my coils. Then the front end can go back on.

Leaky brake line
Fill fluids
Adjust shifter

For the the tubular front suspension where did you get that at a d how down that install go?

“Street car” is such a point of contention, I don’t bother with it.
The cobra is going to be a race car. With its main purpose being to be fast at the track and safe.
But it’s also going to be driven. Hopefully a lot. Full-ish interior, full size radiator, big air to air, power locks and windows etc. whatever people classify that as is fine by me.

I live in a little river town. It’s about a 10-12 mile drive down to the river front. Cool spot to park, meet up with people and hang out. And my wife likes to cruise around. So that’ll be it’s commute a vast majority of the time. But I plan to drive it to work on a nice day once or twice a year. (35 Miles,50 minutes each way). It’s hardly Drag Week but it’s a solid test of the car in my opinion.

So that’s where the cobra is headed.
The fox’s future is more unknown.
Build the 4.8, find a coyote, build the kind of 302 I wanted when I was 16... dunno yet.

There’s some exterior changes I want to make with it. That i know for sure. And having it around to try ideas out with will let me scratch my modification itch whenever I need to. So time will tell.

Intercooler showed up today. I was concerned I might be getting ripped off considering the deal I got on it, but luckily it was exactly as described.

Also got a sneak peak of the rear end, which I’m told will be done tomorrow afternoon. Probably can’t get it til Monday, I’ve got kid duty tomorrow :nice:

My bad man :(, I guess what I meant to ask (which you answered nicely.) is the Cobra meant to be streetable lol.
Where I origanally got lost (my fault) was I thought the Cobra was going full blown race car,and the fox was going to get tamed down to street class rules. But I get it now

Nothing to apologize for. Cobra will be streetable. Didn’t care much for the laid down radiator and a few other things I did on the Fox. Getting a chance to make some adjustments on this build and maybe continue to do them on the fox and learn some new stuff there.

Unless I can’t get past putting the turbos in the grille lol. Then it will be the same impractical crap I did before.

Removable core support made this removal a relative breeze.
Now I can fix the strut towers, repaint the front end and tidy up the engine bay.
Still love this car.

And take the ugly sticker off the windshield.... ;)

Speaking of this thread, I saved a pic on my phone from FB that reminded me of this, despite the bad grammar.

Carry on bud!

What is it with you guys spending time and money building a spectacular ride drive it once or in mike's case several times, then rip it apart and start over, I swear its a sickness, maybe an intervention is necessary.
I do get that it's the journey and not the destination in most cases but I not sure your not mad!
