Just build it out of exhaust tubing (The upper rad hose).
No intercooler the then?
Sounds like stainless tubing is what I'll do then. Easy as anything I guess.
And in regards to the intercooler, or lack thereof, I'm just going to see how it goes.
The cheap Chinese intercooler was going to be the furthest thing from efficient (I already knew that) and the addition of the outlaw valance made it even less efficient. It was essentially just taking up space and adding weight/complication. So it got tossed.
At this time, I only plan the run ethanol. No interest in meth injection or trying to build a fuel system for and rely on running on strictly methanol.
I spent a great deal of time researching other combos and reaching out to notable racers also doing what I'm doing and am very optimistic it'll achieve what I'm after for now.
Shouldn't have to push these turbos very hard to get it where I want it and that'll keep some heat out of it as well.
The other thing to consider is how well it works in a blow-through application.
I fully realize that the way fuel is introduced in a carburetor is entirely different than it is in a port injected setup, and the resulting atomization is what allows for it to run so much cooler.
But the truth of the matter is, we(the large majority of us without fancy equipment to test with) aren't really sure how much of an impact it makes on charge temps with EFI seeing as it's a bit difficult to measure in the combustion chamber. I guess individual EGTs would be the closest guess.
So sure, IATs in the runner are noticeably lower in a blow-thru app but I'm willing to bet they're closer than we think in the chamber.
Especially when you consider how much of that fancy atomized carb fuel puddles on the back of the valve just like it does with port injection.
I could be way off, I don't think I am, but I very well could be. We will just have to find out.
Now with all that said, I have plans to move to an a2w setup in what I'm calling "phase 2". And that cooler will sandwich between the intake base and lid. So the coldside I've built will not go to waste regardless.
And I've also talked to some guys who have built injectors into the charge piping to introduce ethanol (similar to meth injection) up stream and take advantage of that atomization we all dream of.
It's all on the table. Just trying to get phase 1 off the ground at this point.
I think I mentioned it in the thread earlier, but if I didn't, we are due to have our son at the beginning of October so that's where all my focus has been and will likely stay while I try to tackle my ever growing list of things that need done around the house.
