ok my 95 gts has a miss fire under part thorttole sometimes..doesnt always do it. From my searching the forums Ive been told or learned its most likely a bad fuel filter or this thing called TFI...I tried to search where this part is. I was told pass side fenderwell but I cant find it as I dont know what it looks like. Any pic of this would help me greatly. Also I tried looking for it at parts store and TFI doesnt come up on thier computers. So what part anyone know a part number for this?

I have a new cap and rotor installed and timing is set to 10 degrees and im installing my fuel filter tommrow but want to get this stumble fixed asap, thanks for the help in advance

when i had a problem like you are describing, it was old spark plug wires, but ...

the tfi is an ignition component that implements the computer's commands for advancing/retarding the spark

it is on a little heatsink bolted to the fenderwell underneath where the stock mass air meter/air filter is located, passenger side

you have to take the air box out to get to it

my bet is that it is the wires, not the tfi

find this thing (the SPOUT connector) and you'll be close ... it's on the same harness as the SPOUT:

it looks pretty much like this ... this one is not from a 1995 stang, but it looks similar (not exactly like it tho)

I just resolved a similar problem with stumbling in my 1995 GT. You can find the thread at the bottom of this page, or on the next page.
In my case, it was a bad P.I.P. inside the distributor. It would be worth your while to check out the PIP. It's also cheaper to replace if that's your problem, and it only takes a few minutes to check. If it's loose, you have a problem. If it's nice and tight inside the distributor bowl, it's probably fine.

To get at your TFI, you'll have to take our your air filter box (if yours is stock).
It's directly underneath.

Checking out this thread that cold5.0 is talking about is a good start. There's some good tech in there as far as diagnosing idle and part throttle issues. If you haven't tuned up the engine recently, you should start there. Then you should pull codes and see if anything comes up, since the check engine light doesn't necessarily need to be on to have codes stored in the computer. Just some thoughts that I'm bouncing around in my head at 4:55am while still buzzed from last night.

ok im gonna check out that article..I changed the fuel filter and its still doin it a lil. Im gonna do the TFI thing next weekend..if thats not it then plugs and wires. I should do the wires 1st but its hard for me to get time to do it since I have my 2 year old always with me and the tfi is a 5 minute job. thanks for the help thus far guys

well im assuming its my module/TFI thats bad? only does this part throttle stumble in low rpms and only when the engine is in the normal running temp. when cold its fine unlike the one in that thread linked above. I guess Ill have to get a tfi...its listed as a module in the parts store computers right?

That does not sound like a TFI module. They tend to fail with heat (their critical temp is about 257*F, and is lower when they degrade). If you have a miss (at a given operating and underhood temp) at low RPM but no miss at higher RPM's, that suggests another issue to me.

In any case, you can have your module tested at the parts store. Have them do it a few times to heat it up.

Good luck.
