i know this gets old, but i need a fast answer, an i don't feel like searchin through this sites half assed excuse for a search feature...

is 275 the biggest r/ tire you can go on a 17 inch cobra rim? this is the 17/8.5 98 cobra.. i'm wantin to go as big as posible in the back but keep the 245's stock size up front.. i'd like to go 315's but i'm not sure what i need to gettem in there.. spacers or offsetting? ( really don't want to have to do any body work as far a rolling the fender lip if at all possible..

thanx guys.. :nice:

Yes, 275 is the biggest for a 8 or 9" wheel. SOme of the '03 cobra guys are sticking 315's on their stock wheels, but it looks like crap, and handling is definitely compromised with so much buldge. To run 315's you really need a 10.5 or 11" wheel. Go to AFS's site for backsapcing and offsets for their 10.5" wheels. I think it is like 6.95" BS and around 25mm offset, but double check to make sure. My 17X10.5's will be here monday!!!

Hi,
Just put P325/50/R15, BFG Drag Radials on on the back of mine. Prostar rims, tires and rims were bought from my son and installed. The wheel wells had to be hammered in and the fender well lip had to be rolled. Also found out that the passenger side was about 1/2" lower in the rear, so they put a spacer under the spring to bring it level or close.. Put BFG P215/65/R15's on the front, with 1/2 inch spacers. Looking from the back the tires look humongus ?? Can't wait to go to the strip maybe next week??

speaking of rear wheels, what is the width of the stock 16 inch pony rim? I've heard both 7 and 8 inches, just wondering.

If you're referring to the waffle wheels found on the 94+ cars, they're 7" wide. If you're referring to the actual pony wheels from the fox bodies, they're also 7".
