These last two pages remind me why I am perfectly happy with my boring old stock ignition!
I just like to tinker.
It really is a lot easier than it sounds. I’m still half convinced it was too easy to be true, but I guess it works now.
It all appears more difficult than it is... I always just jump in head first more interesting that way
If only I was still this easily entertained
I ended up pulling my coil harness I made completely out of the car last night to go through it and make sure I didn't screw something up. Surprisingly, I didn't wire anything there wrong. So I plugged it back in and went through each of the 8 plugs with a volt meter... All 8 of the signal ground wires back to the computer had a rock solid 5 volts.... Uhhh wut?!
Turns out my 1990 mustang has a 1991+ engine harness in it.
I soldered the SG to the correct grey/red wire, but then ran out of time. I have a few more checks and test to run, but I can't think of anything else that could be wrong, short of having a set of fried coils.....

So how many hours over from the last hour are you now? Glad your getting it figured out. It's more frustrating testing stuff and find nothing wrong and still no worky
I dont know what I don't know. I keep thinking I'm right there and then something else pops up.

Ok, maybe not. I love how the plug wires came out. Nice and neat.
To be more specific, I fixed the ground issue, was able to test the 4 outputs successfully, and build all the rest of the plug wires. I tried to start the car and got nothin. By that point, it was really late, so I took a few data logs and sent them to Steve to see if he saw something I missed.
I need to have someone crank the car over while I shoot the balancer with a timing gun and see what's happening there. Either the timing offset is way the hell off, or the crank trigger isnt working well enough.

I am not seeing good trigger events in the logger.

Oh yeah dude. My sht works like gang busters. As suspected, the crank trigger aint holding up it's end of the deal as noted in the post just above yours.
Uhhhhhh is it too early to talk about EDIS?
Not sure yet. I set the Hall sensor at the prescribed distance from the wheel, but the logs show the square wave to be inconsistent - when it does work.
My crank trigger isn’t working because I have it incorrectly grounded just like my coils were.
