Throttle Position Sensor

I just purchased a new TPS because my old one broke. The guy at the parts store said I would need a volt meter so I can make sure it performs as needed. Does anyone know how to install the TPS and adjusting it with a volt meter? I thought all I had to do was screw it in.

The post does not state the model year of your car.

For 1996+, the PCM re-learns the TPS setting with EACH start up. No adjustments needed. Just screw away.

The PCM cares more about the consistency of the TPS. In other words, a good TPS will have the same value each time the throttle is return to idle, 50%, and WOT.

If on the other hand, the TPS value changes when the throttle is returned to idle, expect to have idle problems.

Don't forget to check your fuses. If you broke the old one with the engine on, possible to have blown a fuse. Do yourself a favor and check all of them.
