Today's mustang day-dream: Ever felt like building a slower fox?

Cool....maybe this spring we could meet up there sometime and do some running. :nice:

Absolutely! I'm gonna make it a point to get out to the track more this year (lets call that my new years resolution..lol). Last year i only made 5 passes all year long, only two of which were after my head/cam swap and all were on wore out drag radials. I'm gonna see about getting new tires and more practice getting DR's to hook and hopefully get past 12.50s.

Since I've never run, you can give me some pointers! I gotta get a helmet first though I guess. I think the car is ok the way it is setup, but I did read something about a manual shut-off when the battery is relocated.

Then we'll go head to head :nice:

I don't have slicks, but my tires are almost wore down to slick :D

off topic. my goal is a 13 sec time slip before this year is over.

but i think it could be done. MM&fast fords i think it was them? did a red coupe and maybe put 2k in parts in it and was running 12.9's with it i belive? ill see if i can dig up the artickle.

I was partial to your build :)

I didn't notice...:D...j/k of course!

I breezed through that thread and that was a great project man! Wish I had a place like that to work on cars. My garage is deeper than most so I have lots of room in front, but its full of stuff :(

So you sold Hack?

Thanks. That thread got weird...some of my pics got deleted somehow...and others got deleted because I moved them in my photobucket to another folder. I'll have to try and put pics in there when I described what I did.
yes BUT....

For a Kewbra.... the Terminator type

:nice:

Well that certainly was a good trade.

:nice: Thanks. There is a thread I started where there are pics of the Termi, if you wanna see it.

STANGBAGERZ CRUSIE IN IN SPRING! you better come!!!!!!

and for sure. when the local tracks open up we will all get a day planed for it :nice:

 Oh man I love a clean black LX hatch... It's gorgeous, man.
I'm probably not supposed to link to other forums. But this is an amazing thread. Awesome read. "official" 12 second stocker combo thread! - Corral Forums

I love your idea btw...

I finally had some time to take a look at Hack Job. My hat's off to you. That is extremely impressive work. Down the road, I would like to do an interior swap like yours. I think my roll cage might be a complicating factor, though.

Did I hear someone say they loved black LX hatches?!? :D

Commence pic whoring. :D

Looks a bit like yours, what type of hood is that on yours?

IMG_0223.webp

It's a Kaenen 2 1/2" cowl hood. Excellent fit and finish, and the lightest hood I've ever seen. It shakes a little at *ahem* very high speed, which can be a little disconcerting. However, it's held up to that many times over the course of its life. I've been told that they aren't made anymore, but you can find them used.

Man, that car is so clean. How many miles? Was it repainted?

Chris

I sold my 10 sec, 331 hatch for a my notch that i will have running mid 11s with perfect street manners. I got tired of having more of a "race car" than a "street car"

Roger that, brother! I got to the point with my 11.40 4 eye, where I said, if I wanna go faster, I just have to... why do I wanna go faster? I can't drive it anymore, it never goes to work, lots of guys go faster, wtf am I wasting this time and money for? Sold it, scrounged up this one, when its done, prolly go 13 even, and go the store, friends houses, shows, road trips, I can actually USE it. The way its supposed to be. Just drive. Let the kids worry about racin, it never mattered who went faster.

I like the look of the cowl. If I ever go to repaint, I'll probably do something similar.

I have no idea how many miles.

The odo says 60k....but its not accurate. It might be 160k.....it may be less. The paint isn't original, was done by the last owner in May 06. He replaced all the trim and lights and molding and all the little stuff to make it look basically new again. The paint does need a good buffing though to really make it pearly again. I'm not even sure how many owners. I know of at least two. The first was building it into a race car and did all the suspension and engine work, had a roll cage and extinguisher in it. I'm guessing he was auto-x'ing it or was going to. The last owner did all the finishing of the body and interior with new parts. Between the two they puts lots of money into it with the receipts to prove it. I think I got it at for a steal at $6k.

Wow. Thanks guys. I never thought there would be love for stock junk. Mine is an '88 I bought 2 years ago with 37k original from the original owner. It had the recall paint in '92 I believe but that's all. I payed 5800. I didn't think that was too bad for a complete virgin.
