Track Times with 4.10's

Ok I just got my gears installed a couple weeks ago, an finally got to take to the track to test it out. It was my first time out in awhile so I was kinda sleeping at the tree. I couldn't get any traction, I need to get a tuner an some slicks! I was dissapointed that I got exactly the same times after the gears tho, I was expecting to at least get in the 8's

Before:
R/T: .194
60: 2.037
330: 5.877
1/8: 9.082
MPH: 75.91

After:
R/T: .346
60: 2.069
330: 5.956
1/8: 9.082
MPH: 79.30

with slicks you should be able to drop the 60' times and get a better run..

what does this time convert to for the 1/4mile?

I think it converts to about a 14.16

Your mods include weld-in mufflers, xpipe and 4.10s?

You can tell that the car is "faster" due to the mph trap, just need to hook and you'll see the increase.

My little NPI with 3.73s is trapping the same thing

Just get some DR's at this point, but even on good street tires you should see mid 13's no problem. So work on that lauch and maybe invest in some tires.

check out your trap speeds though. thats a 4mph difference with a slower 60' i would say that those gears did something. work on the 60' and you should be able to go 8s easily.

My buddy's got some slicks we are gona put on it, an I am ordering the tuner this weekend. Hopefully I dont break an axle an can actually get a decent 60ft time!

Your 2.0X 60's aren't too bad for a mild bolt-on gt on street tires! But the slicks will definately help you out. GL!

The problem is more than 60 foot times which were .032 slower. At 330 foot your time was 0.079 slower. Then from 330 to 660 (1/8) you were 0.079 quicker. With slicks the 8's should be no problems.

well if you run slicks dont dump the clutch at a high rpm or that axle may snap. do a quick clutch slip at around 4000 or so and you should be able to cut 1.8s

oh and just outta curiousity what kinda tree are you guys running pro tree or full tree. lol if you are running full tree you a red lighting like a motha trucka. if its the pro tree then that could be where your time was lost just from reaction times.

Good advice... don't side step the clutch and it's not worth the extra tenth for power shifting either.

4G launch and as you are letting off of the clutch drop the hammer... takes some practice to make it smooth but you'll get the hang of it.

Remove the ol spare tire while your at it.

His reaction time has nothing to do with his E/T. The clock doesn't begin until his front wheels move.

not on a pro tree is doesnt. on pro tree the second it goes green the clocks starts ticking. thats why i asked. full trees the best reaction time you can get is a .500. anything better than that is a red light. if its a full tree then yes you can sit on the line all day long until you roll through the beam.

could also be different tracks but at least my track on the full tree or sportsman tree .500 is perfect reaction. anything better than that is redlight.

Pro trees are .400

Houston Raceway expresses it as .000 being a perfect time, since that makes it easier for people to understand and imagine thats what his track is using aswell.

Not many street cars at a track are going to go up against a Pro Tree

ahhh gotcha yea every track i have been on they just list perfect as being .500 on the sportsman tree and then a .400 is perfect on pro tree.

also you might want to play around with your shift points man. that can have a lot to do with times too.

yeah a .000 is a perfect R/T at our track, I havent been in awhile so I was kinda sleeping at the tree. I let my bro-in-law drive it before the gears an he got alot better times than me so maybe i just need to learn how to drive!
