I think you made the right choice. I have tried to describe your car to other car people I know and they usually think WTF? After I show them pictures though they think it is Awesome! 
I will be picking up the mag with your feature. It will be easier to show people then trying to explain.

I think it comes down to actually seeing it Joe. Across both scenario's when I describe the car (or the project as I was building it) to someone, you can see the "I'm sure that'll be a sweetie" look in their eyes. When They actually see it however, it becomes a different story. I really get a kick out of that one guy that just stands there staring at it trying to figure it out.
The same applies to this scenario. Having told a few locals of the dilemma of considering the trade,... those that have actually seen it were like "you're gonna trade that car for what???"
For those that hadn't yet, or had only seen the pics, the answer was polar opposite,.."Do it"
like a few others have said, under the cosmetic additions It's a fox. Even in pristine, un molested condition, probably will never have the collectability enjoyed by the 65. Consequently, will never garner the 20k dude (or others) is wanting/getting for their cars. Yeah, I might have been able to get that car, but I just couldn't sell it to myself as a good trade considering what I have..One of a kind.

The picture that was posted is of a 67/68 notch dressed out in Shelby fiberglass extensions. The FB deal is gone. I passed and told him that I had. As for bulding another one of the ones that I currently have,....I don't think so. This one almost killed me
