i hit something on the road and blew a tranny coolerline. it hurt the tranny before i got it home. there was metal and clutch material in the oil when i drained it. i called BC in indiana and i am getting a race tranny/converter from darrin when it finally fails. they can't get one to me until after the holidays anyway. it's supposed to be able to hamdle way more torque and hp than i expect to end up with in the end. $3200.00 ain't too bad for the piece of mind that his tranny's give me.

3200-3700 stall depending on what they tell me i need. they base it on that dyno i did last month. 5 clutch converter that will lock instantly at WOT with streetable shifts. no jerking my retinas loose. now i need to add that spool and 31 splines to take that kind of hit off the line. 340 rwtq.... BAM!!!(more by this spring)

no gear change. i want to kill LS's with equal gearing.

there goes the money i was going to spend on heads/cams/springs for this spring.

there goes 350+ rwhp until some time later.

first the LS thing. my motor can;t be compared directly yo an LS for the folowing reasons right now.

1. my intake is designed for 5000 rpm max. it is a pick up truck motor. i have to fab one that works at 5500-6000 without losing low end. that will eaualize the induction. the LS -2 has tremendous intake/port flow at all lifts @ 29" water. i will have to match that.

2. these stock cams can also not compare to stock LS. they are designed for 4.6 3v and torque. way too small for 5.4. my cams are 9 degrees advanced by default position. that murders power above 4200. standard performance cams are 4 degrees advanced for most HP gains with minimal low end losses. my options:

A) are to jump the timing one tooth toretard them 8.74 degrees to .25 degrees advance. that will lose me 40 lb-ft but gain me ~10 - 20 hp.
B) lock the VCT manually to 4 degress advanced by machining the vct.
C) operate the VCT and limit it's travel mechanically.
D) purchase my new cams ground where i need them.

3. exhausts are equal.

4. the factory 5.4 3v induction is designed for a truck also, not performance or cool air setup. mine is even more restrictive. solution:

A) power elbow w/85mm TB, 4" inlet tubing 4" MAF and filter.

5. heads. these heads flow ~230-240 cfm. LS-2 heads flow 230 cfm @ .600 cfm.

that's AFR saying that. so LS heads have no real advantage. that crap is just hype. i will in fact port these heads, but even if i don't i will still outpower them.
don't believe that crap of 300 cfm for stock LS heads.

that sums up why i am lower. with all of the disadvantages this truck moptor presents from the factory, there is plenty to gain. even if i match the cams soecs of the LS cars.

i am in fact 90 rwhp short of an LS-2 6.0(364).

retarding cams= 10-20hp that is a fact.
induction = ????? who know i have no comparisions to model my guesses.
adding real big cams guarantees me to equal LS or beat LS.

i will finish it some day.
