Look at your duration numbers at .050. The lower the number the quicker the power comes on and it will have a shorter max peak rpm. This is just a basic/general explanation. Valve lift in an of itself doesn't really apply to ptv clearance. It only matters with the timing events of the cam at tdc. Again that's just a basic explanation. For another general description say cam 1 is 218/[email protected] and cam 2 is 220/220. They are basically the same for a powerband comparison but there will be minor differences. Now say that cam1 has .500/.500 lift and cam2 has .485/.485. Depending on some of the other timing events cam1 should have a tiny bit more low end-mid range and cam2 slightly more mid range-top end. This is just a very basic "example" and I am not an expert! Just trying to explain it the best I can from my wee little understanding/experience. There is a lot more to it and I only know the basics. Highly suggest talking to any of the cam company's. They all have online spec sheets you can fill out and phone lines if you want to talk to them.All I have to do now is decide which one to go with.........what differences are there between one that is .499/.512 an one that is .512/.512? Is one better for low end power?
The cams you've stated you were looking at will be fine with the springs that tfs supplies. If you want to get more aggressive with your cam profile then You will need to look into better springs. Also the pushrods supplied for the tfs1 cam will work fine and probably will for the other cam also. But you should measure for proper valvetrain alignment. I also recommend buying arp head studs and Fel pro 9333 gaskets.
I remember you are running an AOD. Do you have any mods done to the trans? The more duration you have will require a certain stall speed converter and for max potential a valve body/shift kit upgrade is advisable. What rear gear are you using also? And what kind of exhaust system?
