Troubleshooting My Tune after Vortech SQ install

I don't like that idea. Get a new MAF and retune it. Don't be cheap now or you'll be dealing with an expensive bill later on.

The almost 10.1 a/f at redline is definitely killing your power potential.

I'll gladly spend a few more bucks but only to fix this issue. I just don't want to lay out more cash for the aftercooler, until my stang is properly tuned without it. That's what the shop suggested. But I think it's all in the tune, like so many of you have said.

But I'm good for the cash to fix "whatever I have to" and get a retune.

Trust me, I'm not going to hold out on that at all.

My question is, do I just go get another tune, somewhere else? Or Is there something I need to change before the tune?

I made 555rwhp non intercooled with a s trim .Thats not the issue.
Its the TUNE.

With your parts you should be fine with a good tune. You should not need anything else besides a new tune.Just find a new tuner.

No offense, but there are plenty of tuners who put the wand up the back end of the exhaust and do a pretty good job of tuning. I have had three cars done this way and never a problem. Most people do not weld in a bung.

Beisdes that, the rest is so true.

I'm going to call another shop in Clearwater... REAL SPEED PERFORMANCE and ask them a few questions about how they tune. They also do Vortech installations and dyno tunes.

What main queations do you guys think I need to ask, aside of "Can you tune it right?"

Can you list for us your supercharger kit in terms of injectors, fuel pump, maf and what not?

He listed it above.Stock s trim kit with a 3.6 pulley piping, supplied pump,38lb injectors and everything else besides mufflers stock.

As far as what to ask a tuner.Just ask for refrences of cars they have done before.

You dont need a cooler to make more power than you are making.Thats just a reason so you will spend more money.

Is the tune a supplied by vortech or custom tuned by the current place?

not that this is the main issue, but id think about gettin an offroad midpipe or atleast some high flow cats and possibly a new catback, with all that air coming into the motor your gonna have to open up your exhaust a little more to let it all out, its possible that thats choking it a little...

It's a custom tune. Most of the guys suggested I NOT go with the Vortech tune, so I let the shop throw in the Superchip and do a dynotune for my stang.

Between their custom tune and vortechs tune .im not sure which one would have been worse.

But either way i would stay out of boost until the issues are fixed.Or you maybe in the market for a new engine.

Thanks White99. I'm staying out of boost. But hope to get this fixed soon. My motor is more precious than the blower.
I appreciate the warning.

Im with this guy. Most centris I have seen put out more HP than TRQ. You are opposite here which I would think points to alot of backpressure. Couldnt this lead to predetonation as well?

I would lose the stock midpipe. Its a really cheap mod and makes ALOT of sense for your setup.

Here's what I'm about to try...
I just bought a BBK O/R X pipe and MIL Eliminators. With a little luck I'll have them on by tonight. I'm leaving the stock exhaust manifolds for now, just knowing that they are not a MAJOR restriction, but that the Cats certainly are.

I got the MIL eliminators, just in case my tune proves to have issues with the Service engine light.

I'll post as soon as the X pipe is installed and let you know if there's any noticeable change. Please God, let there be a change, I'm broke, already!

Why do you keep throwing money at the car ..Wait until the tune is fixed or you are asking for problems.

But hey its your car..

White 99, "You're dead right."
I've wasted more money tonight.
The tune truly is the issue and that's what I SHOULD NOT HAVE SETTLED WITH.

The shop recommended the o/r x pipe and a aftercooler, when all I need is a proper tune.

I had the o/r x pipe and MIL eliminators mounted and I HATE that FU$%ing X-pipe! Damn it!

It's way to damned loud (can't even tell if there's detonation taking place now) and the STINK is horrible.

Tomorrow morning, I'm either putting the stock exhaust back on, or buying high flow cats. But after that, I'm not spending another dime until I get a good tune.

I can't drive this car like this and feel so FREKING retarded for the outlay of cash on this garbage.

My biggest problem just turned into 2.

DAMN IT!

my vortech tune was actually decent until the engine warmed up then it didnt have the IAT sensor relocated so it would lose a crap load of power once it warmed up good.....dyno tuning at modular powerhouse is the best money I have spent on the car period

Where exactly is modular powerhouse located? I'm interested. I want a good tune.

My exhaust is fine much better now and the ONLY cash I'm spending from here on out is on a GOOD TUNE.
