Anyone used this pipe yet?? If it does half of what the website says it will be money well spend, I ordered one a few days ago, waiting on it to come in. Anything will be an inprovment over having the air filter in the engine bay.

I can tell you with the addition of a UPR Powerpipe and a 80mm Pro-M, I went from 4psi to 10psi (I also added ported heads and intake, but that might have caused a drop in psi if anything). Money WELL spent!!! Does the same thing as the Anderson only a hell of a lot cheaper.

Sweet, I'm hoping to install mine this weekend, Ive only got the basic 6 PSI vortech, it does well, sounds like this pipe make wake it up a little!! I couldnt stomach payin what anderson wanted for their powerpipes!

Yes it is for the bypass valve....

The UPR pipe works well on 86-93, I wouldn't use it on the 94-95 you have to cut a huge hole to get it to fit. I swear it was cast of the AFM version, except where the bypass fitting is.

Also, where do I need to get the bypass valve from?? Vortech or would by some chance and auto parts store carry what I would need??????

I got a bosche one from a S-Trim kit that my friend didn't need. I suppose you can find them on ebay for pretty cheap money. I'm running a SC-Trim setup.

Also do you have a PLASTIC discharge tube going from the supercharger to throttle body? If so, I can give you pics how I installed a fitting into it for under $5.00 as I didn't want to spend $200 on a aluminum one from vortech.

No. If you don't want to run a bypass valve just plug the bung on the UPR Powerpipe and your ready to rock!

But...

I would run a bypass valve if I were you. Anything over 6psi (which you will probably get) and you will start hearing all that air trapped in the discharge tube which can potenially damage your supercharger.

In order to use a bypass valve you have two options. Buy an aluminum Vortech discharge tube with the bung welded in already....

OR

Drill and Tap your plastic discharge tube and epoxy a 1" diameter plastic fitting from the hardware store. Before any of the naysayers say it will blow out or leak, it DOESN'T and works perfect for the $10 I spent to make it work! :)

If you want I can get you some pictures either Monday or Tuesday and if you want more detailed info about going about it, let me know as I've already done all the leg work.

Here's a couple pics of mine. I modified my powerpipe slightly. I cut the factory nipple off and drilled and tapped it for the Vortech style plastic barb fitting (3/4 npt by 1" hose barb.) I also added a nipple to connect to the valve cover for the PCV. You can see the bypass valve in the bottom of the second pic. It basically connects the powerpipe to the discharge tube.

Mike is right on, that is what I have done in the past as well. I have also used the plastic Vortech tube with a fitting added with no issues, just use the proper epoxy.

Yup, just one bypass valve. You don't really have to get it direct from Vortech, as it's just a Bosch valve. I think Powerdyne and Paxton and some other company's all use the same valve. It should be fairly inexpensive

What about running a blow-off valve?

I understand you would need to run a blow-through MAF and mount the BOV before the meter, but has anyone actually done it and how did you do it?

I can handle that price, so lemme get this straight, make a new port on the discharge tube, im assuming this valve will be directional and the direction of the released air from the discharge tube will need to go back into the boostpipe correct? Secondly, the tubing that runs from the valve cover to the air filter box on the vortech setup will also need to go into the boost pipe correct??? If anyone would feel like drawing a diagram please feel free to do so, thanks!
