Upswept tailpipes on Dynomax?

Ever since I've installed this Dynomax cat-back on my car, along with the ill-fitting UPR X-pipe (which has been a headache, all its own), I've been unable to get the tailpipes to hang horizontal as most other kits' tailpipes seem to. No matter how I wiggle and adjust and twist, I always end up with the tails aimed in a sort of upswept manner, with only about 1/4" of space between the top of the pipes and the rear bumper (which, of course, makes for obnoxious thumping sounds over bumps, now and then). In a way, it doesn't look all that bad ... unless you park it next to another Fox with its tails aligned straight and flat, in which case mine looks either "customized" or just strangely misaligned.

At first I suspected it was the X-pipe, from hanging too low in front and thus causing the rear to aim upwards as a consequence. However, my buddy with a '90 notch and the same cat-back has the same problem, except he's running longtube headers and a shorty H-pipe. I've also seen a lot of other Foxes running 'round on the road with this same tailpipe alignment, although I can't always tell what kind of cat-back they're running on theirs.

Anyone else had this same problem with their Dynomax cat-back? ... or is it likely a matter of the front-end of the exhaust system hanging too low (for both my buddy and myself)?

Hmmm. Just thought it was a bit strange, as the Frankensteined system that was on there before had the pipes hung very nicely at a perfect straight-out orientation, and quite a few of the other Foxes I see running around (both notches and LX hatches) have straight-out tails, as well. All the OEM pics I've seen of LX Foxes have straight-out tails, as well.

I'm just curious to know if this is strictly a Dynomax thing, or if I've just got them adjusted wrong (again, probably due to the low-hanging X-pipe).

just an opinion, but i always liked the upswept look. I think the dynomax kits are designed to be upsewpt some. Personally the tailpipes look stupid when they are 2-3 inches below the bumper and straight out.

This is the Dynomax system I had on my old coupe.

They seemed to fit just fine.

I did have a muffler shop do the install so that may have something to do with it.

It may be that you have to shorten the flow tubes a little to get the angle you want.

You could also cut the hanger (on the tailpipe) and add a bit of material there to get them off the rear bumper, and lower the back side of the tips. It might in turn lower the whole tailipe, but would definately cure the thumping issue on the bumper. If you dont have access to a welder than Id say scratch that idea!
