User friendly tuning software?

Well since i picked up my first 95 5.0, it seems like i've been having to do a lot more read and working on it. The car seemed to have a lot of little problems when i picked it up. One main problem is the person didn't know how to set the car up with the Ecam. The timing was all over the place and idled at 900/1100 just to keep it on. When you'd get on it, it would misfire and just fall on its face. For the most part the car is running fine now, idling at 800rpm. Yes i'm having the typical ecam problems, surging, dieing at the light, dieing on turns ect....

I heard the 95 computers are very sensitive. I really an not into just turning screws, adj fuel pressure, playing with the IAC. Even though it make fix the problems but i really don't think it really FIXS the problem. I'm really interested in picking up a tuning software where i can read up and learn to tune. Sure i can pay someone but after sueing ford losing my car for 2 years, I have no interest in having anyone work on my car other than me.

What is a user friendly tuning software where i can work my way up to better tuners? If you have linkys that works for me, we don't need to have a on going thread taking space. :nono:

You can't just plug your stock ECU in to a lap top and tune it with software. You need either a chip, which you can let somebody else tune....or you can get a TwEECer which will allow you to do a fair bit of tuning yourself, or you can go to a stand alone EFI system which will allow you to tune virtually every variable with alot more precision than the TwEECer or a chip.

I would recommend you look in to Megasquirt. It's a standalone EFI set up and you can have the whole system for400-500 dollars and has incredible flexability for it's price and it is relatively easy to learn and use.

It's my understanding that the most user friendly self tuner is the Anderson PMS. Personally, I went with a TwEECer RT, so I'm still learning the ropes of it, but there's a ton of valuable info in the 94-95 5.0 Tuning section, and several people who are quite knowledgable in there to lend a hand if questions arise.

There really is no such thing as "user friendly" tuning software, it all depends on what you want to do. It's not really about the software or program being "user friendly", the hard part is understanding how the EEC works in the first place.

I have the Tweecer RT, and for the simple stuff it is very easy. Injector size, MAF size, changing rev limits and what not....all very easy stuff. As you get deeper into tuning the harder or more complex it gets, it all depends on what you want to do and why you want to tune the car in the first place.

Do the simple stuff first...

See the "Surging Idle Checklist for help with all your idle/stall problems. The first two posts contain all the updates to the fixes. At last count there were 24 possible causes and fixes] for surging idle/stall problems[/b. I continue to update it as more people post fixes or ask questions.

Yea i'm heard about all the tuners you guys have spoke about. I'm interested in tweecer and the anderson pms is pretty bad ass. I just wanted peoples opinion before i got waste money.

I fixed the idle problem with the E303 but honestly it was a problem only because i was fixing someone elses work. Idles at 800 i tried 600 for ****s and giggles but to hard to keep on. haha Sound like pro street at the light. Lol

Yea, the e-cam is a pain in the ass when it comes to idle. You either set it between 800 and 1000, or deal with the horrible idle surge.

Even with the Tweecer, no vac leaks, and no bad sensors, I still have mine set at 1000rpms.

800rpm 70% of the time 30% of the time 1000rpm. Whats amazing is the car will sometimes drop to 200rpm and just go to 800rpm. All did was clean the IAC with carb cleaner, play with the idle screw, reset the computer, and check for vac leaks. Took me 20minutes can drove the car all day. Runs really good but have to see how it likes different weather.
