In 1992 Ford went to a different audio system in the mustang. They put an amplifier in line to boost the power a bit in 1992. Because of this the plugs are different than they were in 1991. I have a stereo out of my 91 GT I use to have and I want to use it in my 92 LX because some ***got had to go and steal my stereo out of my car. Is there anyway to get the stereo from my 91 to work in my 92?

The GT model cars had a premum sound amp that was either behind the radio or under the passenger seat. The premum sound amp was optioned for 6 speakers. The radios were the same, and should interchange.

Well the plugs for the back of my 91 stereo and my 92 LX are different. I have a book that is the history of the mustang and it says in the book that in 92 they went to an amplifier in the LX and GT model and that this is why the plugs are different.
