92 LX UPR k member 8.2 deck motor with s trim. Car was running driving no problem. This winter pulled motor to paint engine compartment and change pan gasket. I noticed the motor mounts were smoked and ordered new ones. Car all back together, looks amazing runs perfect. Went to put the hood back on and no go. The hood actually hits the case…….not the clock able outlet. Order engery suspension motor mounts thinking the summit/pioneer brand mounts were wrong and same issue. I do not want to go to the solid/drop mounts.

Anyone have any ideas? I’m stumped. Been into foxbodys since 93 and not my first rodeo.

Are you positive the mounts are seated and the motor isn't tilted to one side

The large studs are all the way down at the bottom of the slots. Now the new mounts don’t seem to sit flush against the k member, but I have removed the nub on the passenger side

I am pretty sure that the urethane motor mounts will position the motor higher than the stock rubber mounts. Years ago Ford had two different motor mount for these cars, one was the standard one which the urethane motor mounts are patterned after and the other was for the convertible cars which lowered the motor about 1/2" or more. Later on Ford only had the convertible mounts and that is what you buy in the parts stores.

The 351W in my T-Bird sat too low in the car when I swapped it from a 302W. Canton road race pan was contacting the rack and pinion. I installed the urethan motor mounts and problem solved. Good thing it has a 3" cowl hood.

I have the newer style vert mounts, and still sitting way too high. Compared old pics from before and the blower pulley nut was right behind the radiator hose. Now it’s considerably higher. Wondering if I need OE mounts as I’m seeing lots of people say the parts store ones are junk

Just curious as to how you lifted the engine to get the new mounts in? I have to change mine but i don't have a hoist/top of engine lift. With my oil pan gasket already looking like dog i'm hesitant to lift it with a jack from the pan and 'squish' the gasket even more. I've seen people (KAZLCustoms?) lift from the balancer in one of his videos but also am unsure about doing that.

If you raise the trans will the front of the engine dip down? Just thinking if your new engine mounts are taller and you trans mount is low it might have increased the angle it's sitting at.

To my knowledge, [all] of the modern captured mounts are taller than the OEM non-captured mounts.

Although I have not tested them all, the urethane mounts are taller still.

My only recommendation aside from slotting brackets would be to compare your new mounts to to these:

Mustang Heavy Duty Motor Mount Kit (84-95) 5.0 - LMR

Upgrade your motor mounts to the more desirable 1984-1995 Mustang heavy duty mounts for better support with this Heavy Duty Motor Mount Kit!
lmr.com

To see if the rubber variety will give you the wiggle room that you need.

The other, other option would to swap to a completely different mount. Maybe tubular with the spherical bushings (more ass pain).

I appreciate everyone’s input. I’m at a loss, and can only come up with these pioneer mounts are garbage. Going to try and source some OE Ford mounts locally

Are you sure you're buying the right mounts? why wouldn't they sit flush against the K-member?

I've looked all over the web and all mounts currently available are the vert style. I'm totally lost

The part of this that mystifies me is that there’s 1000’s of foxbodys with Vortechs and no hood Interference. This isn’t some exotic combo……it’s a 90’s throwback set up.

What’s the P/N of the mounts you ordered?

Hmm, looks like it should fit. But I was reading a review on Summit where the person said to get it to fit requires modification.

One other sites list it as ‘universal’ fit. That’s a tough one.

I don’t know if this helps at all but here’s some photos of the mounts I have. Energy suspension. I just happen to have them out as I also need to install them:

Does anything look different?
