Weight Reduction Questions.. Lets try and get at least one response here :)

DON'T MEAN TO HIJACK but...
Crazypete you don't happen to have any pix or anything about how you pulled the heater and extra wires and all? I'd like to remove as much of the junk as possible while still being able to keep my heater going strong. I'm getting rid of the AC, and smog already. I'm just worried about keeping clean hot air comming into the car when I need it.

Well, I dont have any pictures of the final product really but I thought you good folks would get a kick out of what the underside of a dash should look like. Most of that wire you see was removed. Good stuff

To get all of that tar stuff off the floor, it is best to do it in the summer on a hot day. Bring plenty of gatorade and just let the car sit in the sun tull about 1 pm. Then go to town with a scraper. I did mine in the cooler months with a chepo propane torch and it took about 4-6 hours.

I have my 82 hatch down to 2705 the last time I scaled it, w/o driver and with about half a tank of gas.

It still has a fully functional heater, stock dash, 10 holes, and two stock front seats. No front swaybar, rear seat, insulation, carpet, etc.

I have aluminum bumpers front and rear. They are in lots of 4 cyl cars from 79 and 80 not just Pace Cars or turbos. Got some from a 255 v8 Capri. (It needed all the help it could get)

Thinking about pulling the inner fender liners, headliner panel, the rear trim panels, going to lighter seats, a glass hood, etc. The heater will eventually go. There is still a bunch of stuff under the dash, but I hate to crawl up there. Door beams will stay until I get a roll bar. I use TRX rims on front, and they are lighter than the 10 holes, but heavier than Draglights. I have manual steering, and the power brake stuff is on the list to be removed. Windshield wiper system may go if it becomes a serious track car. Thinking about decals for the high beams now.

The roll bar will add 90 to 100 lbs back.

For extremists, I heard you can go around and cut off the excess length from all the bolts on the car. This was from a Miata site.

I have made a few more small tweaks and my Notch is now 2720 w/o me... Springtime I am taking out the power steering and putting in Flaming River, and very likely will go to tubluar K member and a arms. Even though I have a glass hood, [Cervinis] it weighed the same as stock... both were around 40 LBs on the same bathroom sacle i wighed the other stuff on.. [in my reply a few posts up]. I want to get some glass seats too, but want to find some decent ones and some matching cloth covers..

I'd like to eventually get this thing down to a solid 2500 or so without me in it.. but retain the factory heater.. It gets cold up here in Sept and October and Arpil and May sometimes
