What incentives are coming? Time to trade?

I will be in a position at the first of the year to trade my 2005 Mustang, a V6. I dearly love it but the warranty runs out in March and I really want a GT.
Will Ford offer 0 percent again this September? Will current incentives get any better? Will I find what I want at this time of year?
Should I wait until the first of the year and buy a 2008 exactly the way I want it?
Opinions?

im sure you have been watching the dealer inventories. all you can do is sit and wait. if the car you want is available and incentives are right, trade now. if not, you can always wait for an 08 built exactly like you want. future incentives may or may not be better than end of model year incentives. just like last year, the GTs will go quick with the right end of year incentives.

I have to agree with Big Cat. Find the right one and be ready to buy it, but don't chase one if its not exactly what you want. Shop around and know the inventory. Start looking for word on new insentives about a week before the current ones expire. Check Automotive News at the local library.

The local Ford dealer had about 15 stangs when the insentives went on while I was shopping last fall. All of the GT's and most of the the V6's sold the first weekend after they announced 0% (plus cash on the V6!). I was way too slow and didn't get one bought.

Then, I found an 05 gt in Texas set up exactly as I wanted, and for a lot less than a new one. I pounced on it and never looked back.

Im getting offers under invoice on 2007's. Examples follow.

I'm working on an X plan deal plus the rebate now. There are two possible cars if my dealer can get them on a dealer trade. Just waiting for word.
I found it very difficult to find what I want now. I can't imagine how limited choices will soon be for new 2007s.
One of the cars is a premium GT, Vista Blue. The other is Torch Red. Each has dark charcoal interior, IUP, comfort package and GT appearance package. The Torch Red has 18 inch wheels. The Vista Blue has the 17 inch. I really want the 18 inch. I hope my dealer can get it.

I work at one of the top 10 volume Ford dealers in the Northwest. 60 days ago we had 45 new '07 Mustangs (about 20 were GT's). Today, we have about 10 new '07's left (only 2 are GT's). Most neighboring dealers are running out, and 2008 Mustangs are already being scheduled (production starts next Monday). The GT rebate is only $1K for manuals, or $1K and the cost of the automatic upgrade if you buy a GT automatic.

Better off to order a new 2008 built to your specs, especially since you get a great deal anyway with X-plan. Buy an '07 only if it's close enough to what you want and the deal is too good to pass up. Our two new 07 GT's are both priced below X-plan (not much, but below), and you may find similar deals with your local dealers.

Please give us an idea of what a GT bought on the X Plan closes sale at?

X plan is approximately invoice. I understand the point on ordering a 2008. Has pricing been announced? Any rebates on the 2008?
Both of the cars I was trying to deal for have already been sold.
I have found plenty of black, gray and dark colored GTS but that's about it out there. I have found one with the red interior. Any comments on that?
