What intake is best for me?

I currently have a Fitech efi setup, but I am wanting to get rid of it and go back to a true efi system with fuel rails, etc...What do you guys recommend? Looking for something that isn't too expensive, but will be a performer. I have pulled many gt40 intakes from salvage yards so I know that is always an option.

My current setup:

331cui stroker
Anderson N-91 Cam
Edelbrock RPM Air Gap
Ported Trick Flow Twisted Wedge heads

My grandfather built the engine and I remember him saying the compression was close to 11.5:1 compression. He has recently passed away so I am not too sure on what the internals actually are.

Any help is much appreciated!

That’s in Systemax, or RPM 2 territory. A gt40 would choke that combo a little bit unless it was ported. Why do you want to switch?

I really just want to get away from this Fitech, I have had nothing but problems with it. I have also seen so many problems from others about the system as well. If I was running this car at the track, I would have no problem throwing a carb back on it. I just want this to be a reliable street car and so far this Fitech hasn't been that.

I’ve only had one experience fitech. Was great besides their poor quality product, as well as sensors provided, and piss poor customer service. At least once you got ahold of somebody there they were incompetent and not helpful.

Wouldn’t run their efi if you gave it to me for free.

Systemax intake is kind of top dog for a street-ish setup. Of course I know nothing About the car, but I’d guess it’s got some decent gear as the n-91 is a pretty stout cam, at least as far as ots stuff goes.

A victor efi intake would run well, but the box R is also very good for a semi high winding engine and requires no porting at all. The only problem some have is hood clearance.

Since we are in the intake talk can some tell me if this upper and lower is worth 700? Besides being a hard to find vortech intake and a cool show stopper, is this a good intake or just as well off with the systemax? It’s not the nicest but Could get it cleaned and powder coated. Hard to tell but those two bolt down holes which I think they are look beat but maybe not?

I'd for sure run that intake. I'd pay extra for it to. Second in looks only to a tubular gt40.

Buy that now. Nice ones sell for 1k + and there aren't many out there. And, yes, it's a good flowing intake.

Guess I’d surely have to run a vortech instead of the possible procharger i was thinking about ha ha! I am going to get more photos of both the upper and lower

Would it bad if I got this intake and ran a procharger lol, you know kinda if you were Nike’s and bit are in full adidas gear!!! I’m waiting on more photos of both intakes just to make sure they look good. He has another one he runs that’s fully polished and it looks amazing.

Check those ears. They were a weak point and cracked regularly. 700 is about right even if you had to get them fixed. Those intakes a real close to the sytemax but they centralize they have mor turbulence. Not really an issue and I'm not sure if it would even affect hp at all. The systemax is spread out more coming from the throttle body. They are beautiful polished.

That’s what I was worried about bc on the unpolished one they look beat in that pic and they don’t seem like they have much sturdiness with those small dog ears.

The holley's and saleen/vortechs were best for supercharged applications.
I think if you use a systemax II on a NA engine that is just a mediocre you lose some low end.
That's why I like the rpmII so much, you can run it with 330rwhp and you can run it with 425rwhp NA.

As for that vortech, I would buy it and have it polished.
And that's coming from a guy that hates a flashy engine bay.
It's the cheapest version of the saleen intake, so you probably aren't going to find it for less money.
The second one says saleen on it, you no have to compete with Saleen collectors.

Would be cool to have and use later, polished would look pretty nice or even powder coated black and have that vortech area polished. Still waiting on more pics just to get a better over all look. I remember my buddy in high school scoring a Holley intake and slapping it on a relatively stock 89 with a cam and it performed horribly, but like you said to much intake for what the car had. This guys is unloading a lot of stuff, which I want of course. Mainly the dart sportsman 8.2 deck, MM k member kit with control arms and this intake. Also probably a bad time to be spending money!!!

I agree with that. I lost 8 peak TQ, but gained 17 peak HP switching from a Cobra to a Systemax2. The sotp meter can tell the difference too, however any unported cobra/gt40 style intake will have the motor falling on its face at around 5k rpm. That's the main reason I switched.

That's one I haven't seen before. Arent you running a Tubular @Reddevil91? I can see why you would be considering that, but the tubulars have always been on my list. Just takes money.
