ok, i've been fixing all the water leaks on my car "85 auto" and once i thought i got it all, whatever the waterver pump bolts to is leaking, like shooting out water once it gets hot, i can tell a gasket is bad, but i dunno what it is so i can go get it, thanks

lesson number 1. If you dont know how to spell "WATER" you should not be working on cars! hehe. If you have never taken a timing chain cover off before you might have your hands full.....you have to take a few of the front oil pan bolts off to get it off

the motor is in the car, but does that make sence? for water to come out of the timing chain cover gasket? what in there could leak water? This is like the 8th water leak i've had to deal with since i started gettin it going again

The back side of the water pump has a metal backing plate held on by two bolts with a gasket in between, this could possibly be leaking.

Any leakage from the water pump weep hole?

OK, i just got done changing 3 freeze plugs, The car has been mostly sitting for the last 3 years, anyway, i checked and the only spot left leaking is one pin hole in the radiator and this spot, It's the gap between what is between the water pump and the block, there is a gap for a gasket and the gasket is crap i can see part of it fallin out, and the water comes out of here when the water gets hot, and when it's comeing out of here it's NOT comeing out of the radiator pin hole, HELP!!!!!

now that i think about it, there are two passages through the cover going to the block. if you want to change the timing chain cover gasket you need to remove the balancer and a few more bolts to get the timing chain cover off.

The timing chain cover bolts to the front of the block, and the discharge passages for the water pump go through it, ie, the holes on each side. The timing cover has some bolts that just hold it on, and some more that go through the pump and the timing cover. So sometimes when you change the pump, you loosen the gasket between the block and timing cover. Been this way since 1961...

Also, the metal plate on the back of the pump must seal.

I have taken the whole mess off a time or two to fix it.

yeah me and some buddies looked and it and i think that's all it's gonna take, is pulling off the water pump and the timeing chain cover and just go ahead of replace all the gaskets, and i'll have to change the oil and water to make sure they did'nt mix, i'll post on saterday to let ya know how it goes, thanks for the help
