I recenetly purchased a 2003 GT with a 5-speed, I upgraded to Flowmasters, BBK off road x pipe and mil eliminators. Whats the deal with the x pipe, its all tight and no exhaust leaks and its not rubbing on the frame anywere but it makes a loud metal rasping noise at lower rpm's almost like a shield rattling noise but i have no idea, any info would help, thanks

Mine doesn't sound like a metal rasping sound, but it does sound really raspy across the RPM band. Typical of an X-pipe.

yeah my bassani o/r and magnaflow combo is awesome, you can throw it out of gear and into sleeper mode if a cop is hovering around you and have your exhaust scream WOT once the coast is clear.

Dyno max Race bullet's are super cheap and sound great. THey're similar to glasspacks, or magnapacks.

last i looked they were 30 bucks each at www.summitracing.com

I love the raspy sound...I dunno why...but my mustang is the loudest around my whole town. BBK Off-road X-pipe with FlowMasters.

That is just what an x sounds like. If you want the more traditional muscle car sound then go with an h-pipe. Much deeper sound to it. I have twister mufflers on my car and i love them. alot of you probable have not heard of them but it is one of the more popular mufflers at my local muffler shop. they sound great. very similar to a traditional glass-pak type muffler but they are louder and deeper.

that would be the BBK rasp. IMO, dr. gas, magnaflow, mustangtuning, UPR/VRS make the best sounding xpipes. Mine doesnt have any rasp to it at all.

Its not just the bbk. I had a bbk o/f X and I bought a bassani o/r x to see if I would stop making the rasping noise It didn't. The only way to get rid of it is to either get straight through mufflers or get a catted x.

^ no thats stupid, you just got the two worst possible X-Pipes. Most of them (the "true" ones) won't make all those crazy scraping/rattling noises.

It's b/c of BBK and Bassani that EVERY x-pipe gets a bad name

That is just the way a BBK O/R X-pipe sounds with chambered mufflers. I ran one on my cobra for about two weeks with flowmasters, it sounded like complete crap with all the metal rattling noises it gave off. I have a VRS O/R X-pipe on my cobra now and its sounds just plain sick with the flowmasters.
