Ok, I'm trying to finish building up the motor on my '88 5.0 (w/ mass air conversion)

I currently have a ported Performer 5.0 Intake, 65mm TB / Spacer, and SVO 1.6RR (Also, complete rear end including 4.10 if that may effect my powerband)

I'm looking for the best power for a "weekend warrior" a.k.a. NON-Daily Driver.

Should I go with my original plan and buy AFR 165 heads and a custom cam?

OR

Should I sell my Intake and switch to the Holley Systemax H/C/I package?

Other concerns are will my current TB and rockers work with this package??

Thanx for any advice or info..

I have no expericence witth the holly kit, I do know that AFR's and a customer cam with you intake would be a good combo....

honestly if that is all you have right now, your intake being ported is probably losing you torque because its too big but since you are going to build it up, i guess you are ok with that.........on to the question.

as for your buildup, either kit would be a good combo. you really cant beat 165's and a custom cam on a 302, especially if the cam is done right. If you got pedestal mount on the heads then yes you could reuse your 1.6's and yes you can again use the 65mm throttle body or get a 70, but i think i would stick with the 65. dyno it and then maybe try a dyno with a 70 to see. I think the first option is the one I would go with though and it would be cheaper than the second.

good luck

Na5.0ho I heard that the holley kit is a good kit but the cam is bull. Swap the cam and its a good combo. just what i've heard but I just bought the tfs kit. Have u looked into that? But afr's and a ed curtis cam is a very good combo as well.

Thanx for the advice guys... I think I'm gonna stick with my original plans and go with the AFR's and a custom cam.

Any suggestions for specs on a cam??

Thanx again, Jason

I would suggest to call ED and tell him exactly what you plans are and he will give you what you need, little more expensive but defently worth it in the long run, are you going with N2O or Blower down the road?
