Who owns a motorcycle/street bike?

Just wondering how many of you guys have motorcycles and what you think about them. Also, what kind do you have and how much you like it. I am picking up my Ninja 250 next weekend. I am sooo excited! I know, I know, it's tiny, but I have NEVER ridden a bike before, and I am gonna go take a safety course and get my license soon.

ive been riding for 6 years now. nothing like it. awesome to be riding just for the hell of it. i have a black 91 harley softail springer. the only mods to that is a new cam, s&s carb and pipes.

I think ima finally get a gsxr 750 in about a year or two. But i keep telling myself 1 project at a time...

Ive been riding for 14 years and truth be told am I biker first car nut second.
Ive got a Suzuki Bandit 1200s.Great bike comfy and not too slow .Can still give a lot of the supersports a run for the money.

Glad your taking the safety course and buying a great first bike.Ive seen to many people go out and buy supersport 600's as their first bike and most of them end up paying a visit to ER.
If you want a good motorcyle forum www.totalmotorcycle.com is probaly the best but I am biast as im a mod over there

Wow, thanks for the info. The first thing I said when I walked into the dealer was "I do not want a fast bike" hahahaha. I am not ready to get hurt or have a bike fly out from under me. I want to learn slowly. I got to sit on my bike today

My daily driver is an 02' Kawasaki ZX12R with Akrapovic exhaust and my race bike is a 2000' Suzuki Hayabusa with far too many mods to list. I've also got a bunch of trail and dirt bikes. Bikes are fun

The 250 is still a quick little bike when you compare to most cars.Youll have a lot of fun on it but after a year you will be ready to move on.So what color is it?

like above poster, glad you're taking the safety class (msf?).

when you out grow that bike, I suggest testing a suzuki sv650.

I ride a 1999 YZ125 Dirtbike, with tons of stuff done to it.

Really fun to ride dirt.

My roomate owns a 1999 FZR 600, really nice bike, and ever since I rode that bike a few years ago, I made me want to buy an R6.

Soon after College I am gonna get one.

I'm pretty sure it's MSF. How many days is the course? I know it's 15 hours.

I've been riding since April of 2000. My first bike was a 98 CBR 600 F3. That was a very nice bike. I rode it for years until I bought my 04 GSXR 1000. Talk about wheelie machine. I also have an 06 Yamaha YZ250 2 stroke dirtbike, 06 YZ450 quad, and an 02 XR50 w/88cc big bore kit and many, many other mods. You'll really like the 250 Ninja. I've ridden a couple of them. They are fun bikes and excellent for beginners. Have fun and enjoy!

My wife bought her EX250 in '01 and that bike is a blast. Its a great bike to start out on because its quicker than probably 90% of the cars on the road, but it is a very docile machine. Its a great commuter bike and many days, I will jump on it and ride it to work instead of my Triumph for the simple fact that its more comfortable and I don't have to wrestle it around in parking lots, etc.

One thing, the pipe and pod filters sound great together, but it had to be jetted to run correctly. If I had it to do over again, I would have bought her a pair of Cobra slip-ons and left the stock airbox in-tact. The bike seems to be twice as cold-natured now than it was completely stock.

Just got my first streetbike recently...1999 Honda CBR F4...A lot of fun and a whole lot different then the 125cc dirtbike I used to ride as a kid.

This is some good advice I got..."Riding will become instinctive with PROPER PRACTICE...Don't get brave because you've been riding a whole month and decide to do something stupid...Accidents happen when new riders THINK they know what they're doing...It'll all come together with patience and practice..."

I got my 00' GSXR 750 last year - it is the first bike I've ever had. I immediately took the safety course so I would feel much more comfortable with my own bike, and it was one of the most important classes I've ever taken. IMO the first thing to being safe on a bike is common sense. I will whore some pics of mine later I'm about to go get it out of storage.

I got a 2000 CBR929RR for my 17th birthday and put about 12k miles on it before selling it.The guy my parents bought it from had full yoshimura exhaust and had most everything on the bike ported as well as doing all of the cosmetic things.The bike dynoed at 164 to the rear wheel. And the safety course is definately a must! Well neways I dont have that bike nemore because I fell off of it doing a stoppie.Be CAREFULL!!!

Holy crap. It sounds like you guys have had a lot of fun/accidents too. From what I see, no one has any new bikes. Why is this? Mine is an 06 Ninja 250, built between the first visit and the last visit yesterday. They said it was built 15 minutes before I got there the 2nd time. I am sooooo excited. I will probably take the course next weekend, but until then, only practice riding in the neighborhood like you do with the scooters as a kid.
