Who owns a motorcycle/street bike?

I've had a couple different ones. The last one I had was an 84' Honda Magna. Can't remember if it was a 700 or 750. My first one was an 87 Yamaha Fazer, a lot like this one:

Bikes are fun, but I always felt a little silly just going for a drive with no destination in mind. If you're going along on a long stretch of road at a constant speed, it loses it's thrill a bit. Maybe in a few years I'll get the itch for one again.

Nothing wrong with telling your parents...You're over the age of 18, what are they gonna do???...Make you sell it.

Yeah. Well, they do help me whenever I NEED it, and they pay my school tuition, so they could cut me off on that. And not talk to me...I am very close with my parents. It could be very bad.

I've been riding quads/dirtbikes since i was 9... they are amazing.... right now i have a 2001 raptor 660r and a 1993 rm125.....

I want a street bike but as far as the parents go they are all out against it and it doesnt help that im 17....wtf though i had a moped when i was 15..lol..

Both of ours were new when we bought them, but now its kind of nice having them paid off and no monthly payment on a "toy" that can only be ridden about 6-7 months here in Indiana.

Just wondering how many of you guys have motorcycles and what you think about them. Also, what kind do you have and how much you like it. I am picking up my Ninja 250 next weekend. I am sooo excited! I know, I know, it's tiny, but I have NEVER ridden a bike before, and I am gonna go take a safety course and get my license soon.

Congratulations....I remember my first.I have been riding 24 years now.Have had several sport bikes,couple Goldwings,Harleys and finally went custom.
Good luck and always remember when riding a motorcycle....you have to also drive for the other guys because it seems the cagers are out to get us.

My ride is a 2004 BBC Venom ProStreet...Had it built locally.Have won a couple shows....just recently had it displayed in an Art museum for a show called BIKES: Motorcycles as Personal Expression. Also had it accepted by Snap-On for their 2006 snapshots calender.Bought a 1982 Kawasaki 750 Spectre for a work bike.I dont think I could ever be without a motorcycle.Freedom

You guys keep making me even more excited!! I can't wait! I just wanna go pick it up tomorrow and jump on it and teach myself to ride, but I know I shouldn't. I'll probably end up having a friend with a truck come from my home to pick it up and take it back for me.

I can understand being apprehensive about telling your parents. When I got my second one, I didn't look forward to telling my folks despite the fact that I was 22. I got my bike license when I was 16 and my mom has never liked it. About five months after I got my license I broke my leg in so many pieces that they had to put a half inch titanium rod in my tibia. Three years later I got the bike fixed up, took it for a ride, and broke my wrist in a stupid little slip.

Anyway, I didn't get too much grief when I brought my last one home unexpectedly.

I've been riding for a little over a year now. I took the Motorcycle Safety Course before getting my license and bike. Taking the course is one of the smartest things you can do. My first bike was/is a 2005 yamaha R6. Many say its not a good starter bike but I just had to have it. It was a bit intimidating at first but very fun once I got comfortable with it. The 250 ninja is a great starter bike and alot of fun also. Make sure you get good riding gear as well. And be warned...there are way too many stupid drivers out there who shouldn't be allowed on the roads. Especially here in Los Angeles.

Have a 1981 Harley Shovel. Bought it new in May 81. Have 87,000 miles and still runs good. Wouldn't ride rice if they were half price!! Be safe, and allways watch out for the other guy. Chop

Might want to pick up one of those foam donuts at the pharmacy to insure that no further damage is done to your rear. Thats not as bad as the guy that paid $16k for a GSXR600 on Sportbikes.net, but still not good. In '01 the MSRP was actually higher at $3295, we got my wife's for $2995 + a couple fees and were still under MSRP.
