Who's running a side gapped plug? What gap are you running?

As the title said..who's using side gap plugs? And what gap are you using? I'm going to run the autolite AR39254's and was thinking .050 would be about right. Thanks D.

I would stick with plain old ordinary Copper Autolite Plugs, Mustangs like them.

They are plain old copper autolites...just with the strap cut back..the AR indicates the modification to the strap on a standard 3924 plug.

I dont see a reason to change the gap spec from stock (read: I like your 0.050" spec - I run tighter than that even).

The cutting helps the kernal and events after the spark jumps the gap, but the jumping of the gap is still the same as it was before.

And that gap might allow for a little fudge factor if gap erosion occurs quicker than normal.

Derek - are you indexing too?

MHO.
Good luck.

Not at this time JT, I have talked to a few people about it but it seems that I have to find someone willing to bring in a decent qty of plugs, due to variations in threads on each cylinder and plug, and allow me to return the left over plugs once I've found 8 good to go. I have been signed up for the local dyno day saturday and am looking pretty much for any changes I can make short of component changes, to win a little bet among friends. Last time out I was 291/317...since added the electric fan and switched to the optional 94 octane program on my SCT chip (adding aprox 2 degrees through out the curve), I'm hoping with these additions and MAYBE a touch from the improved spark, I can hit the 300 we are wagering on. I'll let you know what the outcome is either way.

Sounds like a plan. I'd be very surprised if you didnt make your goal.

For all-out dyno results, you could try a little more gap (test drive it to make sure you dont start losing spark up top at WOT). I'm not sure how much you'd get out of it, but it could be worth a little something.

Best of luck with it!
