so me and my friend just finished riding around in his moms 98 tt supra. aside from that being fun as hell, i was amazed at how the car wasnt hot inside, having a black interior. she had the windows tinted, all but the winshield. and no sunroof. i guess the windows to be about 35%. im wondering about mine now. can i do the sunroof? or have it done, ive heard they crack. and the back window has a defroster, i know i can get tint over it but i have to unplug the defroster because of the tint, right? so can i get a lx non defrost glass and tint that? or just not use the defroster...

i was thinking 5% back 3 (side 2 and rear window) and sunroof, with 35% side windows. leaving the winshield clear. what do you think. iwashmycar (or anyone with tint) can you notice it being cooler on the inside?

yeah its cooler inside. keeps the seats and stuff from heating up a lot....the air inside will still be like 150 degrees though...cant stop that. They just tint over the defrost lines...and you can still use it...it wont look bad unless its a crappy place. Tint the sunroof. itll be fine as well. A good place does it all the time.

Mine was 150 + 30 bucks for upgraded tint. I didnt want dyed tint...it turns purple. Youll have a lifetime warranty on it anyway wherever you go..so do it all...sunroof too. just DONT do the windsheild strip...we all know why....

why? and where did you get yours done at??

Ive noticed a slight difference. I had mined done last last year. I have 35 all the way around expect the windshield which I regret not doing.

you do not tint over the defrost lines... you pay a shop to tint between the lines. it bubbles up if you tint over the lines.

I disagre with this statement. I had my rear defroster glass professionally tinted with Sunguard window tint 7 1/2 years ago and it has not bubbled once, defroster grid still works.

Find a reputable shop with reputable material and make sure they guarantee it.

You can check my tint out on my links below. Good luck!

As glowstang93 stated the above is wrong! The tint can be put on either way, but is very time consuming to do the individual strips, plus look at how many more straight lines have to be bladed to do that. With a back glass that is 5% black even the smallest inconsistency will be noticed.

The most important thing is finding a quality shop. The prep work of cleaning the glass throughly, especially along those defroster lines, is what makes or break a quality tint job. Go and look through a parking lot and you can tell the difference on who went to a good shop and who didn't. A lot of shops just clean the windows once with no scrubbing and most of those will have dirt in the tint, guaranteed.

An yes, with the tint over the defroster lines you can still use it.

****ing right lol. JUST TINT THE WHOLE WINDSHEILD! 50% full windshield, 15% everywhere else. Nobody has ever noticed unless I point it out, including cops.

Mine is 5%on the back windows and 35% on the front sides. It does help keep some of the heat down, but that is just an added benefit of looking cool :D

The goodstuff won't turn purple like the stuff you get from auto parts stores.

I know its not a 5.0, but here is my 03 with 15% all the way around , except the windsheild.... havent had any problems with the defroster lines, but if on a 94 & up u have to get a black vinyl strip put over the dot matrix at the top of the rear window because it bubbles up a little there...

I had mine done 40 (legal here) on the sides and quarters, and 20 in the back. I thought about going darker on the back and quarters where you're allowed to, but I don't like when there's a big difference in the tint, especially on the side/quarter windows when they're that close to each other. Like everyone else, they tinted over my defroster strips without a problem, and I use it.
