Maybe I missed it but what happened to the engine from your brother? Did you just decide to not go the cookie cutter route with the engine?

My nephew and I aren't seeing things eye to eye at the moment. My sister in law has the engine, but I'm just a brother in law, he's her son. They don't have the warmest of relationships. The 351 is still in play. I just like to have a backup plan, and a plan C as well.
All things equal, I would love to have that engine. I would really enjoy tearing down and cleaning it up.
My birthday was yesterday, 6/29. I spent it in bed with the flu and I'm contagious so it's just me, my dog "Shelby" who's been laying on me the last 3 days.
Friend bought me FRPP 5300-C springs for the 94GT so it wound up being a good day after all.
Congrats on that big ass lobster. Fam is taking me out tonight if I'm up for it.

Yard Booty
I changed out all four speakers on my new Ram with some Pioneers and it sounds much better....BUT Yard Booty it's HOT, HAWT, HOT outside. I had 2 fans on and now I know why a convection oven cooks so well. I also modded my drivers side rear seat so it can fold down and I can hide my sub back there. I didn't get the sub in because the wife called it quits at the pool when it started lightning. No since of poking the bear and getting a good yelling of WTF are you doing to that brand new truck. Can't you be content working on that Mustang?

What's different? Scott @90sickfox , you had it right.
It looks better here than in the engine bay.
I did it in bite size chunks and spot welded each small area as I went along.

About the only other thing to show you is that I finally removed the steering column and pulled out the auto pedal assembly.
I went ahead and did that because I wanted to scrape the seam sealer from the backside of the pinch weld area before I welded it up.
I'm probably going to weld the entire seam.
When I'm through with this I was going to go ahead and weld the radiator support on. I may wait while the support isn't in the way and plug all of those damn holes!

MOST of them will like it. Actually I don't see why not. This isn't turning a 4 eye into an Aero, which gets you on the hit list. You're restoring a car that was being slowly returned to the earth it came from, sitting in that junk yard.
Of course, when you put that turbo LS in it, you're on the hit list.

I went ahead and welded across the seam. More or less a crapload of spot welds. The upper cowl panel is a bit thinner gauge than the lower or firewall.
I then went over to the inside of the right strut tower and welded up some of the holes.
But, you know what? I got tired of playing with my Booger. That's it for today. Tomorrow I'll fill holes. Maybe Monday or tuesday I'll weld the radiator support in. The the Team Z lower. Then the Scott Rod panels..........and then the smoothing.

I got an idea for @Davedacarpainter from that video. Don't spend $1.5 million on Booger. Don't spend $100k on paint and body work. But you can get some yellow tire decals.
Here's something that's interesting. In '86 there were WAY more holes in the engine bay than in '83.
Here's the cowl panel portion of the firewall between Doby and Booger.
Here's the left frame rail.
Positive side is that I may be able to finish welding up the holes today, then I can install the radiator support.
You may not appreciate the differences in the pictures as much as I do. I should be able to (relatively easily) finish welding up holes today, probably even be able to dress them! Wooo freaking hooo!
The right strut tower is probably the only exception, but I've already got the majority of the holes welded up there.
