Progress Thread New To Me 1988 GT - trying to set up vacuum lines for upper intake question

Did some work over the weekend. I rewired the RH door speaker by tapping into the connector that I found under the kickpanel. I also installed a new door lock actuator and borrowed the RH door lock switch off of my other '88.
My painter stopped by and said he has time now to paint the car. I'm going to start taking stuff of the car for him to paint it. I plan on removing the ground effects, door handles, door locks, quarter windows, trim for front and rear windshield, mirrors, door window trim, etc
Yesterday I started cleaning the carpet. I started with the worst spot which was the RH rear foot area; it was black! (see pic) I used my portable carpet cleaner to start with. I first sprayed the stained area with the carpet cleaner solution, let it soak, hit with a vinyl brush attachment for a drill. This took a majority of the the dirt out. What didn't come out I next hit with Turtle Wax upholstery cleaner. I got about 75% of the stain out but I would like to get most all of the stain out. I wanted to see what you guys would try next to get the remaining stain out. My neighbor said he has had good luck with Spray N' Wash so I was going to try that next. It might not all come out but I wanted to try another thing or two before throwing in the towel.
Drove the car around a bit yesterday. The seatbelt extends and retracts well. It feels nice and soft too because when I had it out of the car I soaked it in a bucket of hot water with laundry detergent for about an hour. The material feels and looks like new now.
I love how this car sounds! It only has 2 chamber Flowmasters and the rear cats have been deleted off of the stock h-pipe. I know it will only sound better if and when I do more mods to the engine and exhaust. I would almost be satisfied leaving it the way it is.

For the carpet, i would just keep repeating your same process over and over until your satisfied.
I have had Great success with this stuff [Folex].
Available at ACE Hardware, Lowe’s, Home Depot, and WAL-MART.
May work great for the small spots up front but if the rear foot area still looks solid black like in the photo you will need something like a Bissell portable carpet cleaner or better yet full carpet replacement only if your not 100% satisfied and funds allow. Heck, if most of it came out then just top it off with a nice new rear floor mat and nobody will know otherwise.
Give it a shot - nothing to lose other than about 8 bucks for the spray ….

I thought about this also. Everytime I went over it a little more would come up but not much and that's why I thought I needed to try something stronger. It might just be like you said, have to keep going over it.

I used a Bissell carpet cleaner for my first round of cleaning; it did pretty good. I want to try and save the factory carpet. My other '88 has aftermarket carpet in it and it doesn't fit as good as the factory carpeting in this car.
I can understand that 100%.
Keep going over it like @gkomo suggested and throw a nice new floor-mat back there. Case solved
I just bought new floor mats. At this point, some staining is still going to show outside of the foot print of the floor mat. I'm going to put some more elbow grease in, try the Folex you recommended and then call it good enough!
I have taken a couple of cars to what we used to call the 25 cent car wash, the place with the spray nozzles....
Use the soap, then the rinse selection.... Vacuum it as well as you can, then let it sit in the sun with the doors open to dry.... I know it sounds iffy, but the results were pretty amazing...

I'd yank that carpet out, try to hang it if you can and take a low power pressure washer to it, good hose pressure would be ok and you can put some serious elbow into it

I've laid them out flat on concrete and blasted the crap out of them with a mix of dish and laundry soap. Keep power washing it until the suds go away. Use the dish soap [sparingly] but use it. It cuts the grease.
You guys made me think of something when you mentioned dish soap.
[“Dawn Powerwash”] SPRAY works wonders on grease and hard to clean surfaces. I never used it on carpet but heck, maybe give it a try. I am sure anyone who has ever used this stuff will concur that it works amazing even compared to the original squirt bottle Dawn which is great also.

I never would have thought about pressure washing the carpet while it's in the car! lol

Another good thought and recommendation from you. I stopped by Home Depot last night after work and picked up some Folex. If it doesn't take more of the stain out I might try out the Dawn Platinum Plus.You guys made me think of something when you mentioned dish soap.

A past Boss from where I worked told me about him doing it... again, I made a carpet in an old girlfriends Explorer look like new...
