new :poo: box, may need to hit you guys up for 79-82 info when i fix thIs turd.

I don’t know why but I don’t hate the LED headlights for some reason.

Reminds me of what people do with the headlights on early 90’s Toyota pickups.
Lol dont blame ya, they look like crap, I just dont have 4 eye stuff and they are not at all a priority on this turd. Have to see what front clip I end up with. I like the 4 eye with fender spats look, over the ones that don't but they get snatched up if it's a reasonable price and relisted for what a repo costs or more. So probably end up with a lx/ base front clip from a crusty 85-86, can get an 84.5 but again dont like using rare parts. Give me easy to find cheap common stuff.

The plan is more of a 5.0tussin type beater build with mostly stuff I have laying around, with hopefully some 10 footer spit shine thrown in. It will probably end up with some cheap fleet or bright white and a mix of black and what ever bright trim i can save, and some finish 1 clear. Cheap, fun and make it not a huge eye sore, not a resto or high end build. I'm not dumping good money into it, majority of the parts I bought used when this stuff was cheap. If i can grab a cheap enough 86 5.0 parts car it might end up efi.

Anyone had, xr7 cougar or turbo coupe seats apart, remember my turbo coupe seats being extremely similar to 85 gt seats but head rests like 87-89 gt seats. Cover pattern was different but not sure on the frames. I know the tracks where way different for power which my turbo coupe had.

Found some cougar seats semi local cheaper then I can get mustang cores for so might pick them up if they work, I know some had rear map pockets but I like cheap stuff and it fits this hodge podge turd. The black rear seat is the style it should have not much orig on this thing lol

Did I read the pricing correctly? priced as each??
You can do them so much cheaper then holleys crazy mark ups. But headlights are the this timelines, 2k Ricer trend, so they trying to cash in.. Same for the mall crawler truck market before that dies off..

House of dula did these years ago, you can do the same for about $100 now between bulbs and housings. Hell they even have real sealed beam led projector 4x6 stuff, there just all ugly in a 4x6 housing

Lol no tools at my brother's house, I bought a limited amount of supplies and forgot a bunch... This bitch is silver or im really blind. May be a :poo: respray. But brake clean and a little steel wool knocking out the roof and trim.. found more door trim under rear seat, rear seat looks to be red, spray bombed black so there getting the black leather acme covers, when i find a front set of 87-89 gt seats.. I'll knock the old paint off from the cowl back that should all be silver and see what a rough buff does to it. Doors and rear bumper are 3 different colors so not messing with those yet.

Pans are solid, has bolt in subframess, rear interior brake lines good, surprisingly very minimal rust. Has good bones just needs time. Wiring is a nightmare but its a carb so more time. 79 has so many little things different from the later stuff I'm used to.

Seats are out, put a set of 92 gray cores in it for now. Im too fat, grumpy and too old to work on stuff not on a lift, 79 had all studs for seats mounting 5 of 8 are missing lol. Dollar general and wally word cheap supplies for the win to clean this turd up. Need to find seat belts for pre 89, deal with the gas pedal, throttle linkage and find time to wash / scrub all this flaking :poo: paint off it.

Spent all day fixing the 93gt beaters rear end so only time to run over to drop some parts off and test some ideas for fixing the ugly no console look with the butchered late model carpet all ready in it.

Cheapy shift boot and an old rear floor mat for now, plus removing that fugly rubber boot and ring & ditching the T handle for one of the cheapy holly clearance M/T shift balls I grabbed just for thread adapters. Need to move the cut placement in the mat forward a bit in the other mat I have since the carpets cut for a 87-93 console mount. Maybe I can over lap them and use that one for the stock 79-86 shift boot that bolts in.

Some of my black Friday orders for this are starting to show up, about half the cheap speed master crap showed, valve covers, breathers, couple header stud kits. Still waiting on the other order from them to add to the parts pile for it. The 79 has those cheapy old China orange caster plates that I think speed master used to sell and the drivers side is all goofy with some positive camber plus they just look like ass, so they need replaced... speed master had plates that look like direct knock offs of J&M, MM and SVE on the site when I was ordering, just the bearing plate is black vs silver, and they where $40ish on BF sale so threw them in the order to hit free shipping. I'm actually kind of suprised by them, I'd say they might be on par with the sve plates I've owned in the past on first inspection, step down from j&m or MM 's I've had in the past when checking the bearing by hand. Time and install will tell with the budget stuff I'm using on this one though.

Drove the car back to my place and tucked it under a car cover over the weekend. I forgot how much I hate 2.73's and how poorly this thing runs, I don't think I took it out of 2nd gear .

What's the saying, if you're going be stupid you better be tuff. some of the cheap stuff I've picked up for the car. Let start with speedmaster, well with speedmaster you are QC so inspect every thing, found issues with a lot of it.

Valve covers 1's missing the S in stroker lol the polished ones seem to be a laminate or some thing, i didnt pick at it yet. vs the blue ones being engraved, they fit a set of heads fine though.

79-89 Caster camber plates, one bearing seems to way tighter then the other, good thing is there easily replaced and held in with snap rings, need to see if I can source better bearings for them just incase. These are straight copies of j&m, pro3i, hotpart. I have theirs on my red car from years ago. Definitely not the same manufacture though but china clone being speedmaster probably the lowest bidder.

Gaskets, beat up, some bent in shipping pliable enough to not care.

Rockers, I looked over every one and will again when I use them, probably the best qc of all the parts, did have to seat 1 snap ring though. All the same part number, no signs of damage, bad forgings, bearnings feel decent and tight. Dont care for the stepped poly lock design but seems that factory uses it on all there rockers. pretty sure ynj is the supplier in china. I have scorpions if they fail though, also forgot to snag pics of those.
https://ynj-racing-rockerarm.com/pr...289-351w-8650-chromemoly-steel-rocker-arms-49. Comp ultra knock offs. Liberty, LPC brands a similar set for $350...

Extra clearance headers studs and cheap valve cover breather, probably the only thing I'd suggest to others from that company if your on a budget

Head gaskets.. pics are there you got eyes, I'll try em. 20251219_200957.webp 20251219_200953.webp 20251219_200243.webp 20251219_200252.webp 20251219_195519.webp 20251219_195820.webp 20251219_194531.webp 20251219_192619.webp 20251219_192428.webp 20251219_195855.webp 20251219_201106.webp 20251219_201030.webp 20251219_192748.webp

Temu stuff, cheapy 4×6 leds, not as ugly as what's on it plus stupid ass red eyes all the trendy kids like. I got them free pretty much same for rest of temu sourced stuff.

8.8 girdle, same cnc girdle everyone was hawking a few years back for 250 plus. Had one on my white car all ready, so will be fine for this, also have a cheapy cast one too you see all over fleabay and market place sites, to compare, useable but cheap ass paint on it.

Evil energy, ptfe 6an ls1 swap quick connect fuel line kit, some silicone fiberglass fire sleeving and some catch can, hose with catch can is junk, would never hold up to vacuum, rest of it ok.

Between weather, my messed up ribs and being busy haven't done much with this lol. Remember kids plastic dip sucks ass... still a ton more to remove before I compound and buff the old paint but the roof, quarter and trim is showing some progress.
