Drivetrain 1983 mustang rear end swap

hey dudes, I'm swapping the rear end of my 1983 fox and was trying ti figure out the compatibility of rear ends i could choose from. I am totally unsure if what will fit underneath my car. help is quite needed to this new mustang owner.

Easiest would be an 8.8 out of another fox era mustang. SN95 rear ends fit also, but are a little wider

86-93 rear for direct swap.

94-98 rears also work but have disk brakes. Your drum parts will swap over.


Long story short, a 86-98 housing is what you want. Brake parts all interchange...even between the 7.5” and 8.8
