i am needing new slicks. i run 26x10.5 ET streets now, they are TINY looking.

my cooper cobra street tires are 27 inches tall. and it looks like there is room for 28 sice i put my suspension mods on. drag springs, arms and shocks.

width isnt an issue, my track rims have 4 inch BS and will clear fine.

i just need something taller to get the wall wrinkling and get a BITE on the track.

Get the right backspacing. I tried 275/60R15s (28") on my GT hatch..rubbed the rear ground effect, and was getting sliced on the wheel lip. Without quad shocks at a higher offset it should be possible. I've seen a guy run 30"s on a notch with stock differential..took a sledge to a spot on the quarter, though.

i went out and looked at it. up and down it will clear. only place that worries me is it rubbing the side skirt and rear bumper. i could get it on but it would be within a 1/4 inch of hitting. i may just stick with a 26, maybe an actual slick would work good over an et street.

anyone had problems with an et street losing grip after it wears out a bit? mine are about to have the tread lines come off. and they wont seem to hook anymore. i was at the track last night and couldnt get a decent run in because of the launch. i did a SOMKEY burnout and they just didnt want to leave the line right. it may be a pressure problem i was at 15 psi, it used to hook there before.

may be the SC making more power and overpowering the tires. i only got a 1.9 60' on one pass.(have hit high 1.7s with these tires) i only made two crappy passes before it started raining and they closed down.

i am running the et streets tubed and with no rim screws. could my car be spinning the rim inside the tire yet??

the car just has that sensation of spinning but its not really spinning, just feels like it.

Paint a stripe from the wheel to the tire on each side (make sure it's lined up). Do a hard launch..if the stripes aren't lined up after, you have your answer.
