He'll have to find II motor mounts for a 302. They are II specific.

that wont be his only problem.. lol...
was it originally a v8 ?? im assuming not....if not he will also need the frame plates that the motor mount bolts to.. what did he have for a motor before?

best thing you could do is buy a donor car out of the j-yard if you can find one.
he is going to need a lot more parts than just mounts to make it work.
theres only a few things the 6 and 8 share.
and theres only a few things the 78 block and the 89 block share.
off the top of my head...he will need to change
obvious mounts and frame plates
oil pan is Mustang II specific , oil pump pick up tube,
the II uses a short water pump
the 75-78 timing cover is also needed because of the oil dipstick
transmission is MII specific. thats a big problem
the tunnel in these cars is very tight limiting what will fit without mods..
you will need MII manifolds or headers specific to the II.

i could go on and on but i dont know exactly what he has done or has collected for parts so far,
this is a job only for the well experienced, if he has everything he needs except for the mounts, then they can be found... do a search on the internet
for mustangII parts,
if you go into the parts section in this forum you will see a thread for
mustang II mounts, but no one here has tried em as far as i know
and you still need the mount frame plates which you wont find unless used.
nobody makes those.
if he is serious about this swap and has no parts for the II
the best bet is a donor v8 75-78 mustang II
other wise you could be collecting parts for quite a while..
this would have to be a project car and not a daily driver,
what does he have for a trans in the car and which rear end ?
is this a project car , and what happened to the v6?
does the car run and drive now??

yep those mounts are a pain in the ass to find without paying an arm and a leg.
i would look in ebay, search 75-78 mustang, cobraII, and king cobra. or j-yard.
if you have any other q+a about the build PM me and i will go into more detail what you will need good luck.

New motor mounts can be obtained @ your local Advance auto parts. I had heard this, and it is true. Problem is the only part availible is half the mount. You need the part that bolts to the engine, it mates with the rubber isolater to frame part of the mount. So if you found a set of mounts (cheap) that were shot you could go this route. I would check it out first. They (advance) had to order them, believe the were about $ 24.00 each. In the first part of your thread you say the dash lights are toast-always have been. When I was young and less experienced I installed a new radio in my II. Sounds were good ,but no dashlights. popped fuses one after the other( and some burnt wiring) I took it to the local shop. I came to find out that a factory ford radio light comes on with the dash lights regardless of the radio being on or not. Guess what color this wire is? BLACK So assuming it was a ground, I grounded it thus dead shorting my dash lights. Check it out and maybe you can get the dash harness for a song out of a doner. Good luck and happy motoring. P.S. do you still have the headmans? If so I will buy them.

itsamustangtoo, I'm unclear as to which part Advance actually carries, the part that bolts to the frame or the half that bolts to the engine?

This was the only mount I could find on Advance's website for the V-8 II:

http://www.partsamerica.com/ProductDetail.aspx?mfrcode=TRA&mfrpartnumber=4982&parttype=27&ptset=A

This is the mount that bolts to the engine block. The v-8 frame mounts would also be needed to convert from V-6 to v-8. Seems like someone else had tried these and they only fit one side though.

If memory serves me correctly the part is the one that bolts to the frame mount, not the motor. But if you go to a store and ask them they should be able to show you the part on the screen in the store. That is what I did and that is when I found out it was only half the mount. ( thought $ 24.00 was cheap)

That is a generic photo of a motor mount. That shows the whole mount. I will stop today and get the scoop and post my findings tomorrow

Sounds like it is generic. I wonder if it really fits a II?
