So you are telling me the Notch is this close because it doesnt have tailpipes? LOL, there is a good chance this is hindering more than helping and if it did help it wouldnt be noticable.

The GT did 269 rwhp, air fuel was right on, timing, everything and it didnt make anymore power.

Dont care if a 98 GT can beat a stock 95 GT, the 96-98 GT will get owned by the fox body as it has been done 10000 times. ;)

Owned, no sir...it will get beat with an equal driver, but not by much.

Friends 98 gt with catback ran 76mph in the 1/8th. Get a catback on a stock 5.0L and lets see how much "owning" it can do:D Also had 10.5 inch chrome cobra r's in the back...9in. chrome up front.

Nope, you are stretching the tailpipe thing. That is just another advantage.

Your not to good at this...though you do know your stuff...

You could run it more lean, get a bit more power to a point...doubt it is completely and fully tuned where not one more hp/tq is going to be gained. That would take many, many times on the dyno and way to much money to make it worth it...

76 MPH from a 96-98 GT with a catback. Alright lets take the cats off, throw a filter on it, maybe some pulleys and some 3.73's, remove the front sway bar, the dog bone and such, instead of a catback have some weldin Flowmaster's. That gets you a [email protected] MPH with a 2.13 60 ft like my friend's 97 GT. Thats a factory non power window, no mach 460, no foglights car too. I belive he might be able to get 9.0's out of it, maybe an 8.9 if we play with it some. The LX had walmart foglights on it too. (on it when he got it ;))

My friend's 90 LX Hatchback ran 8.9@79-80 MPH with a K&N in the stock airbox, offroad h pipe, Flowmasters welded into the stock exhuast, with the front sway bar and dog bone on. Bumped timing also, cut stock springs, 15 inch Saleen Enkie Wirebasket Wheels. 303 pound driver! He ran a 9.1@77 and 78 MPH with just the filter and bumped timing! He has an 00 GT now and has run a 8.9@80 MPH with a filter, offroad h pipe, Flowmasters welded in and he is 70 pounds lighter now (he wasnt fat before, just 6'7", he got older and slimmed down a bit haha).

The 76mph was with me driving it.

I'm 210lbs at 6ft. 3in. No slim guy...

If we put more into that car (got prochamber on it now) and do some more...it would be quicker than 77mph. Also the 98's have 10 more hp than the 96-97's.

The type of wheels doesn't matter (aesthetic styling)...your just trying to make it seem less "menacing"...I know your word play:nice:

Actually I posted what wheels it had just to let you know what was actually changed on the car. 15's DO hook better but that wouldnt help the MPH really. :nice:

Speeds - You named that in the middle of all the cons, in between "cut springs" and "303lb driver"...you know what it was going to be taken like by your average reader, but that isn't me:)

My friend's 87 GT had mac shortys, prochamber, pro dumps, holley airfilter in stock airbox, 3.08's, Mac Steel UD Pulleys, Draglites w/ Skinnies and 275/50/15 DR's, 15 Degrees of timing, FMS Alum DS, Lakewood Lift Bars & UCA's, !Front Sway Bar, 3.08's and ran [email protected], unknown 60 ft, timers werent working that day. :(

He swapped in a T5Z with a taller first gear that was making it bog pretty bad on those big tires, added 1.7 RR's and ran 8.42@81-82 MPH that day. Could have gone faster with the regular T5.

Stock heads, cam, intake, tb, shifter, clutch fan. GT not a notch.

303 pound driver makes a difference! Take a light car but not the lightest model, throw in a big ass driver and still run faster than others. Fox Bodys are light but his wasnt LOL Thats 93 pounds heavier than you would have been in the same car that day, that makes a difference dont ya think. :)

Nice, I notice the gt's get heavier as the years progress. In the early years, gt isn't that much of a difference. In fact my friends 90 gt weighs (ed) less than my 93 does.

Yep, but that wasn't my point of posting the 303lb driver, that was about your "word play". Accessory deletes also make a difference...;)

The weight isnt near what people think it is but regardless the car could have probably run faster times even if only slightly if it were a notch. It still had the foglights and the lower bumper reinforcement that the GT's had. Car had manual windows but still had the power locks and all that stuff. 93's supposedly have lighter front seats because they are plastic backed instead of metal but I have never checked or weighed them. They do have airbags and such though. My friend's 93 Notch has seats out of a 91 in it, so if they were lighter he gave up that advantage. ;)

Yep, pretty simple, lighter is quicker, no matter what your driving in our "world"...

303 pound driver compared to the average person makes more of a difference than removing a smog pump that the 4.6 doesnt have drag from in the first place. I would hardly call a 303 pound driver a play on words, more like a car that is even heavier than normal.

Stock 5 Sped 87-93 5.0 is gonna beat down a 99-04 automatic. The automatics are a bit slower than the 5 speed cars, they usually run 9.4-9.5's@74-76 MPH.

Hey now, my '01 GT auto, mach 460, bone stock runs 9.2's@78mph. It will run 9.4's@76 if I'm hotlapping.

I've also beaten a friend's '91 GT, 5spd, exhaust, filter in every way. At the strip, on the street, from a dig, from lots of different rolling speeds. His car's best was in the 9.5's using a better driver than him.

Again, not fooling me. I said the smog delete was an advantage, just as weight is an advantage. Never said one was less, equal, or more so than the other. Now your playing off nothing except words...your losing it speeds:) Your trying to find something to be right on, instead of sticking to what is actually being said and pointed towards...

Accessory loss is accessory loss...

Interesting point (the top part)...

So every car I mentioned here would run even faster at your track/weather because I have seen a bunch and known a bunch, even personally driven a slightly modded one down the track. 9.4-9.5@75-76 MPH is the average of around 6-8 cars around here at the same tracks. 5 Speed cars usually run 9.1-9.2's@77-78. Some of those auto cars even had exhuast, or filter, or pulleys. Stock geared.

Your friend running a 9.5 needs to retire or fix his car. Never seen a 5 speed one that slow unless the driver trys to make a pass with a bag over his head.

Accessorry loss is a loss, well considering it can be deleted for free while doing maintaince (new belt), I wouldnt call it much of a mod. The 4.6 doesnt have it so thats apples to apples. You would think with their better flowing heads and new technology they wouldnt need all these smoke and mirror tricks. :)

You know 6-8 cars that have the "4r70w"? If you know them...why don't you know the exact number? Do you just have an 1/8 mile track?

I've seen 5.0L's trap high 60's in the 1/8 mile. Bad condition does that...driver can drive the heck out of one to no avail...
